Winter walks

Any tips for keeping baby warm on walks? Bundle up in the stroller (we have the car seat and a bassinet) or dress lighter but baby wear (baby ktan or baby bjorn)? When I’ve gone to the pediatrician I’ve baby worn with a blanket but it’s just a minute down the street.

I usually wear the baby, cause then he also keeps me warm

General DC winter day, I put him in socks, pants, a long sleeve onesie, and then one of those bunting things that make him look like a bear, and goes over his feet and hands.

The other day when it was 25 degrees out, I added a second hat under the bunting hat, and a pair mittens under the bunting hand flaps.

His cheeks are cold, but he's otherwise nice and cosy, and we're usually out for 30-45 minutes.

I sometimes wore an oversize coat and zipped the baby up partially in the coat.

Bundle and use whatever carrier you want. Baby will be fine.

Note that people walk their kids outside in much colder weather than we have here. It's all ok if bundled.

I bought one of those stroller buntings that look like a big sleeping bag. Baby in footies or long sleeve onesie, pants and sweater. Then into the bunting and blanket over. Hoodie or hat. Baby is very warm

Wool layers and a good hat in the stroller with the sleeping bag thingy has been fine.

I always used a stroller. We have dogs so she had to come out with us regardless of weather. I did layered clothing with a hay, then a snowsuit with a hood. Then put her in a cozy bag thing like a bundle me, in the stroller. She was fine.

layer baby's clothes, make sure baby has hat and mittens (and socks!) then use blanket(s) over stroller to block any wind. Baby will be happier than you are! Walked my three month old twins every day january and february!

It's not that cold - mid 30s isn't bad and babies are usually a bundle of heat .

I'm not saying don't bundle up in hat and blankets, but at the same time you don't need to overthink this and baby will be fine for a nice brisk walk in the stroller/baby carrier. The fresh air and scenery does wonders.

You’ve gotten some great advice and I just want to add as a parent of some older kids, the younger you get them used to playing or walking out in the cold, the more they’re willing to later. It’s a lifesaver during the cold winter months!

I can't wear my baby inside my coat unless I wear a tshirt. We both get sweaty. I bought a coat expander for my winter coat, not knowing how warm she would be.

A stroller is a much better fit for us.
