Whoa! The top pick in the MLS SuperDraft is of CCL pedigree.
And another five in the draft all played in the CCL through their high school years. Loudoun and VBR (the club out of Roanoke) each have two to their credit. Not too shabby! |
More like...in spite of playing in CCL. |
|
he played in one of venezuela's top academies before moving to the us. he was on venezuela's u14 and u17 national team before moving here.
not so sure that CCL and playing pickup soccer in roanoke really developed him. |
| claim all the credit you want... like potomac soccer claiming credit for developing freddy adu. right. |
| CCL pedigree? What is that? My kid played in the CCL for years and it seems all they do is arrange games. Sometimes not even that well. How does that impact getting them to the MLS? |
|
Let's be real here and rephrase this... 6 players who were drafted into MLS happened to play in CCL.
After the more valuable, younger teenage talent has already been signed at younger ages through homegrown contracts, some teams want to sign 20-something year olds because they may be able to crack the roster as a development project, or play for their 2nd team (aka loudon united) or reserve teams. |

sorry meant 5

| What is CCL? |
|
I don’t really know why people think CCL is good or quality. I’ve coached in that league for 3 years and I abhor it.
I haven’t left because no one will pay what I’m getting but I dread the organization. The shitty teams. Including my club - which is pure facade and outright stealing non-suspecting parents. The logistics and ending a season with maybe 2 or 3 games is asinine. Their website is garbage. God. So much filth all around. |
| CCL quality for boys has dropped off over the last 3-4 years but those players did develop in CCL and played in it for many years. CCL not great but the league and associated clubs (Loudoun, SYA, Roanoke) all did a very good job with these players |
| it may have given them a place to play, but you have to be an exceptional player already to go pro from a CCL club |
| Did Ccl? Or did parents that helped push the kids along with training and driving to several soccer practices and different training programs other than ccl. |
| CCL had a very competitive platform for boys during this time. The coaches at these clubs should be proud of their contributions to developing these players |
Oh please shut up. These kids had the talent and survived the “coaching” they get. Half of them never even played the sport they’re just riding that dollar |
| Half of them never played the sport? Please explain this logic. |
