That happened to me last year I was over 1000 but still got my first choice. Honestly I thought this post was going to be about how crazy it is that Girl Scout camp is actually considering happening! Haha!

My children will be going to camp this summer, even if I have to pack them off to Australia.

This is the shittiest system I've ever had to use for camps. Logged in immediately at the stroke of 10 and was 700th in line! Waited 35 minutes to have the system boot me back out and refuse to recognize my login. Called and got that reset and tried to register. Choice #1 had 2 spots left. Put in all of the information and then the system booted me back out AGAIN. Logged in again and now she's waitlisted. So annoying!

I got in after about 30 minutes (and was 900th in line). Almost all the sessions were available (my kid is in the 3-4 band)

yes was in the 800s and still got our first choice (daughter is in 3rd) and there were more spaces left in her session. Anyone had experience with Potomac Woods before? DD was supposed to go last year but everything was canceled.

Was 70th at 10am. Browser froze and I had to launch a different browser. I got back in line at 10:05, then was #304. By 10:16 was in the system and had DD registered in our first choice. I checked the system around 10:30 and her program was 1 waiting list only.
They only opened 3000 slots for sleep away this year. Coles Trip is not functioning at a summer camp this year. It is being offered for SU encampments.

The system was super slow this year and not clear. I thought it had booted me out several times. She got into her first choice.

I didn’t register this year (too much uncertainty for me with schedules, etc) but for those of you that send your kids-do they go with a friend or alone? I’d like my daughter to go at some point but will she be the odd person out if she’s on her own?

I moved heaven and earth to get it done last year, all for nought. This year I passed.

Do you all really think its going to happen? Many counselors are from abroad.

I think it might happen but don’t think it’s the best idea yet. They may be able to get the counselors vax but not a single kid will be. Camps are short with new kids coming in every week. We saw last summer that pre testing does not always work.

Woww.... can someone post a link which camp you join that have that long waiting list? It must be popular.

Just saw kids have to wear masks all day except while eating sleeping (so breathing with 5 other friends all night) and swimming. We are pro-mask, but that does not sound like a great way to spend summer camp.

The council is doing 50% capacity in shelters for sleeping, so a shelter that usually sleeps 6 will have 3 kids sleeping with their heads in different corners, so 12 feet apart. The shelters are screened in and the curtains will be open unless there is driving rain.

Girl scout camps are always popular. They were in the 60s when my mom went and when I went too.
