My daughter can pass with great velocity but can't kick with any power. I've tried everything I know but with no success. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks! |
| you should probably hire a trainer for this for a session or two. |
| Work on technique and accuracy. The power will come later as she grows. Private lessons with a good coach will help with technique. |
| technique technique technique .. cant say it enough.. look how small Messi is 5'5" maybe 150 lbs, he can kick harder and farther than almost all NFL players, Why??? Technique !!!!!!!!! |
Messi is 5'7". OP, keep working on practicing with her. It could be an issue of confidence or anxiety. My son would often prefer to pass than shoot, because he feels a lot of pressure and doesn't want to fail. |

As others indicated, proper technique is key. Once the technique is learned, practice kicking against a wall with both feet. Wall kicking helped my DD tremendously.
Also, tell your DD not to try to kick hard. Practice good techniques first. It’s a great start if she’s already a good passer. |

i coached a youth basketball team awhile back, had no clue what i was doing but the kids all loved to shoot. So i gave them the ball at the far end of the gym and told them to dribble the length of the court and shoot, they didn't like that because all they did was shoot shoot shoot. If you can't get the ball down the court you can't shoot.
i have a friend who has a kid who plays div 1 soccer now. I learned this from their soccer coach. Shooting will happen but first develop the skills. my basketball team still sucked but they understood the process. |
Good intentions but WTF ????? Have her keep working on technique without power. As she gets the technique down the ball will fly off her foot. The power is added after the technique is mastered. |
At that age would focus more on technique than power. Power will come with maturity and practice. Also would work on passing/shooting with non dominant foot. Good first touch is equally important. |

Not really understanding how a kid kicks with high velocity but no power - how does she get the ball to connect quickly without power? Is she only doing short passes?
I will break from the norm here and say build up leg strength to gain more power. Technique doesn't seem to be the issue since she is already connecting passes. |
| Oh wait. I don't think anyone mentioned technique! Have her master technique. |
Accuracy of passes is totally different than striking the ball with technique .There is a technique where you can ping the ball with ease using little leg strength . |
Not really. Your passes wont be very accurate if it doesnt have enough power to reach the intended player... unless he is talking short passes. Which is why I asked. "Pinging" the ball isnt very versatile. This kid needs leg strength. |
Why not post a video? |
| is she strong in her placement of her plant foot? |
