Wait and see if this works out. He has wanted to bring them back all along and these dates are a last minute delay. Many feel this is still irresponsible given current covid numbers around the area. It is better than his original plan and at least he delayed everyone by a week. I need to read it again, but his latest release appears that they are using FCCPS data with new metrics. I find his updates hard to read. They are too wordy and not to the point. https://www.fccps.org/article/372834

I agree that today’s email is so hard to understand and seems contradictory. I wish Noonan could keep it more to the point. Today’s email is more convoluted than most and that is really saying something.

Staff have been notified that they must all report and work from the building’s beginning January 4th. FCCPS should be encouraging everyone to stay home and keep numbers down. Teachers must now teach from school, even while students remain virtual. This is one of the most irresponsible decisions they have made. Why force teachers to come in when students are not there?

It’ll shut down during Cohort 2.

They have been encouraging that all school year, especially since Halloween. And yet here we are.

This has been explained. Did you miss it and want to hear? Or do you just not care about explanations?

DP, that’ll spread and quickly among teachers and eff up even DL for a couple weeks.

I don’t understand this. We’re entering a peak period. It would have made sense in August/September when numbers were low. It will make sense again in the spring when ventilation will be easier, vaccinations will be more widespread, and numbers will likely be better. I do not understand waiting until we have peak community to open the schools. I don’t get it.

Your job per Fcps mandates that you are within driving distance.. sorry (not) that you have to move out of the beach/lake whatever..

I've read it several times, as well as the links. I think I understand it.
To summarize- dates have been given for a return for all students to hybrid learning. Returning to hybrid learning does not depend on hitting any magic number- its happening. FCCPS is focused on FCC data, not 'regional' or 'state' or 'national' data (Duran could learn from this.) The following depends on cohort a little- I'll use cohort 2 (elementary) to illustrate. If both cases per 10,000 (more than 200) and positivity (greater than 10%) is red for more than 7 days, elementary will revert to all virtual. There are some other things that can trigger a return to virtual as well.
Essentially, FCCPS is adhering closely to CDC guidance- schools are opened, even with high risk of transmission, with strong mitigation.

That's crazy.

No one is at the beach. It seems unnecessary but if it makes parents like you happy it must be worth it.
