I love a sweet cake or cookie with my morning coffee for breakfast. But I realize it’s not that healthy and leaves me craving more sweets throughout the day and makes me crash mid morning. But the thought of eggs or peanut butter toast or yogurt, blah! I try but it never sticks! This morning I had a banana, some almond butter and a chocolate square, and the last half a Christmas cookie haha.
What are some healthy sweet protein options that go well with hot coffee? |
Oatmeal with peanut butter and maple syrup |
Healthy AND sweet, hmmm. Maybe try different granolas. Some are sweet or you can sprinkle sugar on them. |
Is your coffee black? There is already a lot of sugar in coffee if not. Just lay off the cookies in the morning. |
Yes! One of my favorites. |
Milk or oat milk. Granola is a good idea as is oatmeal. Does anyone have a recipe for a breakfast muffin or cookie? |
Breakfast cookies exist. Do some Googling. Or breakfast “bites”/energy bites. |
Google recipes for healthier muffins or breakfast bread. There’s no reason why a morning treat can’t be your main sweet for the day, if that’s what you love. Have pie for breakfast, but don’t then also have a cocktail or a dessert. Pick your spot. |
These have 15g of protein. They also have freezer pancakes and waffles you can put maple syrup on.

Maybe start with a non breakfast savory? My mother has never liked traditional breakfast as long as I can remember. Eat a lunch type food for breakfast. Something you really like |
Eggo Blueberry Waffles. Toast them. Put nothing on them (to save on calories) They're a little sweet. Crunchy. Some nutritional value. Easy to eat on the go. |
When you say you want healthy, what does that mean?
I do pastries or a muffin with breakfast most mornings (a croissant or a blueberry muffin), and combine it with fruit and some yogurt. I find starting the day with a sweet carb actually helps tide me over until lunch and minimizes how much snacking I do in the morning. It's not "healthy" in the sense that obviously my pastries have plenty of sugar and butter in them, but I balance it with other things and I don't consider them unhealthy, either. It's just food. |
Smoothie with a rich full fat vanilla yogurt and berries. I add a sweetener and some powdered lemon juice but there’s lots of ways to fiddle with the flavors. |
Dutch baby pancake. Waffles with a fruit compote. Custard made with white chocolate. |
