Do you like or dislike your induction cooktop? Please include brand/model information!

Hi there DCUM - we need to replace our gas cooktop and are looking at induction cooktops. Do you have one, and if so, do you like or dislike yours? Let me know how well it works for you...and please include information on what brand and model you have.

Thanks!

Have a range, but LOVE it - GE Profile.

We have a GE Cafe induction range. We like it a lot. We were certain we'd get a gas range when we went to replace our old stove, but went with induction instead. I like that it cooks more quickly, that the burners do not really get hot (although don't touch it right after you've removed a hot pot), it doesn't heat up the house like a gas range and it's more energy efficient. It did take a little getting used to when we first bought it. If you have old cookware, you might have to buy new since old cookware is not induction ready. I think all new cookware comes induction ready now. I use my dutch oven the most, it works so well on induction. I really don't have any complaints about it.

Same. We’ve had it for more than ten years now, and we love it.

I have a Wolf transitional and love it.

You'll never go back to gas.

I love induction. It’s so quick to heat and 1000x easier to clean than our old Wolf gas range.

We live in Europe and have a Bora cooktop, which I also love because it doesn’t require an external vent. They aren’t available in N America yet, I don’t think. But maybe some other brands offer the same thing? It’s so nice to not have the hulking stainless vent overhead.

Different poster here....does anybody have experience with a Frigidaire induction oven? They are highly rated by Consumer Reports and have some great sales right now - but I'm not sure I trust them.

So you don’t need a hood with an induction cooktop? We bought an old house without a hood and we were planning to get one built out during the remodel. But maybe we don’t have to?

We have a regular frigidare stove and its about 15 years old. It keeps going and going as I'd love an excuse to replace it. The convection oven is fantastic and baked goods come out moist.

You want the hood to remove the toxic fumes that arise from high temperature frying.

We have a 30” Bosch benchmark cooktop and we love it. Cooks just as well as gas, but it’s quicker and easier to clean. One of our best kitchen decisions by far. But we definitely like having a hood over it! That’s more about the style of cooking than the method of heating, IMO.

My mom had hers removed. It just wasn't working out well for her. It is funny because she has always been a gal who likes the newest gadgets so we thought for sure she would love her induction cooktop. She was pretty excited because we bought all new pots and pans, etc, which was fun and cool. However, after about 5-6 months she began talking about how much she missed her gas range and how she missed using all of her regular pots and pans, the Dutch ovens and cast iron things, that she had been using for so long. Then once the glass cracked in two spots it was all over for her and induction.

I think it is interesting that so many posters say they like theirs. Anyway, it has been probably 9-10 years since we pulled it out and had the gas reconnected for her range. It has been a better fit for her.
