Prestigious as in snobby and expensive or just expensive? It’s not snobby but it is expensive. |
No it is an up and coming shit hole
have you never been there? the Chelsea hotel used to house one-armed drug addicts who hung out in the lobby and the streets outside were the same West side only gets fancy briefly - very far North, Morningside Drive. |
Chelsea is fully gentrified and very expensive. Mostly middle aged gay men. Don’t listen to PP. |
I think you're stuck in 1998 and the previous poster is stuck in 1978. |
Nope, all my old gay friends live there. My young gay friends live in Hell's Kitchen. |
My gay friends live all over the city |
PP who said Chelsea Hotel was a shit hole. I stayed in NY all through the 90s, 2000's right up til 2019. Still a shit hole. |
pretty much. old gays still in the west village, middle-aged gays in chelsea, young gays in hells kitchen |
No not “prestigious.”
|
OP, what exactly do you want to know? You've started two threads that are as general as can be. |
Well, fwiw, I know numerous people in Chelsea and they are all either gay men or straight 20-something women from my office who tell me that all their neighbors are gay men. So I think the stereotype holds up.
I have friends who bought a 1 bedroom in Chelsea two years ago. I think it was a great investment. It's a nice, safe neighborhood that's convenient to a lot of places and still has some character. I feel like the OP is asking these questions because they desperately want a tony NYC address but can't afford UES or Soho and are trying to figure out the next best thing. Like they are trying to crack some code. OP -- there is no code. Manhattan is pricy and real estate is a bear. Anyone who cares where you live will never be impressed by it, and the people who are impressed by it probably aren't worth impressing. |
