Rose hip seed oil question (the ordinary)

Anonymous
I am 35 with some sun damage and very light wrinkles on forehead and crows feet when I smile. I haven’t really found a product that makes my skin look great and impulsively bought some products from the ordinary:

For AM:
Squalene cleanser
Antioxidant spf

For PM:
vit c cream
100% Rose hip seed oil

Is this brand a gimmick? Do these products sound right or is this enough for someone my age? Help!

I’m still working on my routine but I do like their hyalauronic acid. It’s really just for hydration and plumps your skin up a little. It’s the only one of their products that I can see working.

I have a ton of their products. The ones I like most:

AHA/BHA peel
Glycolic acid toner
Lactic acid (10%)
Caffeine eye solution
Niacinamide
Serum foundation

I have a bunch of other stuff but I’ve noticed very little difference when using it. I started using it when I was your age. I’m 39 now.

Are using these things better than just a plain old retinol (like .5 obagi etc)?

I’ve never used the Ordinary Rose hip oil but I use Rose Hip oil by Trilogy and love it. It’s now my go-to moisturizer. I buy it at Whole Foods.

Isn’t the primary reason that rose hip oil is effective is naturally occurring vitamin c? I wouldn’t double up.

And no it’s not a gimmick, although some products are more successful than others.

I've used that oil. It was okay but not remarkable.

I like the pai brand version of it.

Is the oil sufficient as an anti-aging serum/moisturizer or do most pair it with something else?

I do this- serum, moisturizer, oil.

I have a lot of products from that company. I wash with that squalene cleanser then tone with their glycolic toner at night. Then I use a prescription retinol night.

In the AM I wash with the squalene, mix in my palm their vitamin c powder with their ferulic acid and Hyaluronic acid and a drop of rose hip oil. Then sunscreen.

No, it's vitamin E.

Products from the Ordinary are just that: ordinary. There’s nothing special about them and many of the formulations are just bad. You’ll get the most bang for your buck by using tretinoin and being religious with moisturizer and sunscreen.

I would agree, but I have noticed a big difference in including some of their products such as the niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and moisturizer, but at our age you also have to use a strong active at night like a retinol and sunscreen everyday.
