Any yorkie owners here?

I have a 16lb yorkie and a 7lb one. If you had a yorkie til what age did they live to? What meds helped them as they aged that didn't upset their tummies? Also, is it just me or are yorkies the best kids ever?

Awww, I can’t help, but they are precious! We have a 4 year old yorkie mix (not sure what!). She is 13 lbs. our neighbor has a teacup yorkie who is 4 lb.

16lbs is big for a Yorkie. I have a 10lb and 9lb and I think they are on the bigger side, too. Both of my dogs 11 years old. My mom had one that was 17 when he died so they can live a long time. I love my Yorkies. The biggest drawback for us is that they are not the easiest to potty train and mine at least are lazy to go outside when they deem the weather to be unsuitable (wet, cold).

They are wonderful, loyal, and loveable companions. They are happiest when they are next to me. They will get up and follow me when I leave the room. Neither has had major health issues, but they've both needed dental cleanings and extractions which ended up being about $1500 each and one is really prone to earwax build-up, but my other one has no trouble at all with her ears. They are not on any regular meds at this point.

Are you saying they are the best with kids or the best kids? They are certainly easier to take care of than children. We have 3 kids, but I think other breeds are probably better with children. Bigger breeds are sturdier. Kids could accidentally injure Yorkies if they are not careful especially toddlers/preschoolers who may try to pick them up. They are playful. Our Yorkies don't fetch but they can do a few little tricks.
