Guest playing for another club

How easily is this possible if you have a club player looking to potentially player for another club? Can CCL players guest for others teams n tournaments? What about NPL or NCSL?

I was always curious about this. Manassas United Elite is notorious for bringing 3-4 guest players every tournament

It is usually word of mouth. A coach may have contact info of a player who once tried out or a parent on a team knows a player.

Tournaments are not league events so there are no league rules prohibiting guest play.

You simply need to be asked, available and your player's card to guest.

+1 My kid has been asked by 2 different teams to play as guest and all of the above was true. I would just add that as a courtesy, we have always asked the current coach if they were okay with it beforehand and obviously made sure the team didnt have another engagement that day.

True except the guest player cannot join the club they guested until the next seasonal year

Do you mean the guest player is prohibited from joining the club in the next seasonal year?

No, they cannot join in the current year.

Some leagues have anti-poaching rules but my NCSL kid can leave his team in the middle of the season and join a non-NCSL team the next day. And always remember a kid can be double rostered as long as one team is carded with USYS and the other with US Club Soccer.

Wrong. Read the ccl bylaws again.

There are some unusual recruiting/anti-poaching restrictions in CCL but what specifically are you referring to? The only cases I see are if the player accepts a spot on one CCL team then changes their mind and tries to switch clubs without permission or if a player from one CCL club guests for another CCL
club without permission. In either case they can get the current club directors permission and all is fine. It does require more than just the coach asking.

A ccl player is prohibited from joining the ccl team they guested in the next seasonal year regardless of whether they receive permission from their home ccl club. This includes practicing with another ccl club during the current seasonable year. Not sure if it’s enforced but it should. This would cut down on guesting. This also applies to an ncsl carded player guesting and practicing with another ccl team and who’s home club is a member of the ccl.

Was this a big problem before? I guess I don't see the point. At some level, they are just trying out the team. And to be clear -- if they don't guest for a team, they could switch to the new club. Only if they help them out are they barred for the next season?

Can you guest play outside your club and current team? If it makes a difference the league is NCSL (regular season).

It wouldn't be called guesting. I believe what you are looking for is "double-carded". One club would be Primary and the other club would be Secondary. It will have to be in different league - for example: EDP/NCSL, etc.

Same league. Both Clubs are in NCSL.
