How is it going so far? The latest update from ACPS has me worried about what K will be like next year. |
Um terrible. It is K online. It is a travesty that they have not brought them in person. |
Next year? School year or calendar? What has you worried? |
Next school year. I'm worried we won't be back in person or will only be doing hybrid based on the letter that went out. |
The entire country will be in school full time next year except ACPS. But at least they will have a long list of reasons why they can’t possible go back full time. |
Yep. This. Don't expect ACPS to ever go back to 5 days a week. Plan to move, go private, or be okay with at home learning for, well, forever. |
My husband works in SE DC so the only place we could afford to move that wouldn't be a horrible commute would be PGC. I guess we'll just homeschool. |
We know several people who opted out of K this year or decided to go private, to include with daycares that added kinder classes.
I hope they figure something out for next year but I’m not confident based on the lack of any real meaningful reopening plan for this year and the superintendent’s statements that ACOS won’t reopen until there’s a vaccine. I definitely recommend having a back-up plan! |
Can you move just over the border to Fairfax County Alexandria? I think FCPS sadly has a better chance of figuring out school in 2021, especially for little kids. Many of those neighborhoods are pretty affordable. Sorry you’re having to deal with this. |
Possibly. We find out next week how much our rent will be going up. I thought the schools in unincorporated Alexandria weren't good, though. We're zoned for a school in ACPS that everyone seems to really like. |
There are some iffy areas around Rt. 1, but I have friends zoned for Rose Hill and for Franconia (Edison pyramid) who are pretty happy. Metro is nearby, a short drive to Huntington. |
