Ugh I dont really love any of the options i find in stock and am need of inspiration. My sister's baby (with the roundest face and the fattest cheeks) was an epic pumpkin a few years ago so skipping that.

my first baby was a tiger for his first Halloween, when he was almost 1 (he has an early November birthday), which I bought because his favorite book at the time was about a tiger.
my second baby was a pineapple for her first Halloween. Super cute.

I think both costumes came from Carter's.

My older dc wanted to be a magician so we splurged on the cutest knit bunny costume for baby.

Our oldest was 20 days old on Halloween. He wore cute Halloween pjs and sat on our laps while we took turns handing out candy. It was perfect.

Kind of pricey, but the Pottery Barn Baby costumes are insanely cute. I splurged on a witch one and got a cheap Amazon witch costume for the dog so I can be extra and take matching photos.

I just buy something cheap on Amazon or Etsy. It's one day, and your baby is a.... baby. They won't care. Spending more money doesn't mean you love your kid more.

OP here, the PB baby witch costume haunts me -- lovely but sold out. Everything I look at seems to be pricey for what it is or just not as nice as the toddler costumes. I am thinking tinkerbell or snow white. but somehow disney princess stuff seems so loaded.

I bought the shark costume from Carter’s for my 20-month old. Last year she was a dragon.

Hanna Anderson makes their sleeper suit with a coordinating hat as costumes— my eight week old will be a ladybug and then we’ll have another set of PJs for her. Only “extra” is the little hat.

My first DD was a ladybug when she was a baby, then a strawberry as a young toddler.
Our newest little one is going as a baby dragon this year.

Go for the fluffy animals while you can! Last three years: baby bat, baby hedgehog, and this year a baby bumblebee.

Carters has bad selection this year and sadly the PBKids skunk costume I was so excited to order turned out to be a total piece of cr@p so I sent it back. Amazon had the bee costume and it looks so cute.

We did a DIY ghost costume with a white sweatsuit for my kids' first Halloween. She was a very cute ladybug for her 2nd Halloween.
