| We just had our 3rd kid and have talked about DH getting a vasectomy. We are 98% sure we are done having kids but are nervous about shutting the door completely. When did you schedule dh’s vasectomy? I am kind of thinking when the baby is 2 we will get it done since we will be out of the baby stage and most likely won’t be having more. |

I had it done when our last kid was about 1. I actually remember taking the kids out to a mall the weekend after and driving them while having an ice pack on my nether regions.
I banked my sperm so it's available should we change our mind. Also, while they say vasectomies aren't reversible, of the 8 men in the office that day for surgery, I was the only one having one done. Everyone else was there to have theirs reversed (based on their age, I'd guess 2nd marriage). |
| As a man I would never get one. |
| We had one pretty soon after, maybe 4-6 months but we were sure that 2 was plenty. |
| We waited 5 years. We banked sperm. |
Same here |
| Fairly soon after our third was born. No regrets. We knew we were done. |
| A few months after last baby was born. We knew we were done and didn’t see any reason to wait. |
| Between the 3rd & 4rth. |
Then I hope you wear condoms every time and always pull out. |
| If you're not positive, then don't do it. |
| We scheduled it at 3 months after baby was born. Needed to get it done in the same year as the birth for deductible reasons (thanks, America!). It was fine though. My only hesitation was SIDS and whether I’d want another if that happened. It was a huge relief for us because I was done thinking about birth control and my DH said he found it empowering that he could control his own fertility. |
Ooops |
| We are somewhat like you in that we were 98% sure we were done but upon further reflection I realized I was 100% done being pregnant ever again after multiple miscarriages and 2 pregnancies with GD. DH got it right around when our 2nd was one. Love the onus isn’t on me anymore for BC and that we don’t have to use condoms. |
| When kid #2 was 4 months old. No regrets whatsoever a decade later. |
