Looking for a math tutor whi doesn’t charge an arm and a leg. My child is in 6th grade. |
What’s an arm and a leg to you? We found a great one on Wyzant.com for $65/hr.
There are also a lot of free tutoring programs available - BCC kids are running one where the kids tutor. Might work if you ur kid just needs focused attention and practice. |
The usual price can go up to $100/hr. |
We go to mathnasium. Shop around though because they dont all charge the same.
We pay $199 per month and can go upto 12 times a month( we do twice a week so 8 times a month) No long term contract. We are doing in person but they have online too. |
I would rather pay $300 for mathnasium and go 6xweek. That’s what McLean mathnasium charged and we can use it 6xweek. |
I recommend mathnasium. It wasn’t until 6months in at 3 times a week until I saw a difference in my kid in math. Once a week tutor no matter how expensive is not going to change things and they may require you do homework during the week which is a struggle you have to deal with. |
+1 You need more “reps” than a once or twice per week tutor can provide. We love Mathnasium of McLean. |
We pay $60 per hour for our private tutor. Tried mathnasium before we found her and it sucked. |
If you are ok with online format you can find a tutor in India (or other country) who speaks English for about $10-15/hr look on preply.com |
for a sixth grader, ask a friend with a high school kid to recommend someone. Most likely $40 an hour, and your 6th grader will appreciate working with a cool high school kid! |
WOW. Too bad dc doesn’t handle virtual education well. Very jealous of the parents who get to pay those prices. |
