Looking for a Audi convertible. 5-8 years old. 50K-75k miles.
Keep hearing about some model years having major consumption and timing chain issues. Car would not be a daily driver. For my DW. Only putting on about 2k-3k/year. Thoughts? |
| I would never buy an Audi. Extremely expensive to maintain and the least reliable of the 3 big German brands. They have got much better recently, but buying a 5-8 year old Audit is a fools errand. Mercedes and BMW are way more reliable than Audi. |
| I loved my Audi. So did the service advisor at the dealership. |
| Maybe I've just been lucky, but I have a 2013 Audi A5 cabriolet that I bought off lease, and it's been a great car. It's our 3rd car, and it has maybe 80,000 miles on it. No major issues (knock on wood). I do think some are problematic and some are not -- last time we took it in for service, the dealer commented that it was a "cream puff" and offered to buy it. |
How many miles did it have when you bought it? Did you buy an extended warranty? |
I don’t remember the mileage exactly — I want to say around 35-40,000? We did not get an extended warranty. We bought it at a place out in Rockville that specialized in off-lease luxury cars. I don’t think they’re in business anymore, though. |

| I have a had a bunch of Audi’s since 2015 and had ZERO problems. Been working through models before buying. I think I am in for an RS 7 next year. |
| I put about 8K miles on mine a year and have had no problems. It is a 2019 and I love it. |
