Movie Review: Horton Hears a Who

I was prepared to be board to death or outraged.
When a Children's book is turned into a big screen feature it is usually transformed into either a long bore fest or a Violent movie with inappropriate language.
Since I wasn't paying to see the movie (I was with two of my charges at the time) I decided to go and see it this morning. I was really entertained. It was cute and funny (as a children's movie should be) without horrible violence.
I recommend this Movie for anyone 3 and up.

I give it three smileys.
Don't miss this charming family friendly movie.

We saw it at White Flint Mall on Rockville Pike it was only(AM ticket prices) $5.00 a ticket.

Loved this moving. It was my favorite book as a child and was really looking forward to taking my 3 and 6 yr old. They both loved it, 3 yr old told me thanks for taking him to a great movie. We are going to see it again when the DVD comes out. It is only 1 1/2 hours long too, which is a huge plus to me.

That's funny. I've heard from two friends that it was an excruciating hour and a half to endure. The kids liked it though.

I can't stand sitting through kids' movies. I thought I was going to go over the edge watching the Clifford movie -- I think that might have been the worst!

I am looking forward to seeing this one. Unlike The Cat in The Hat, this one isn't boycotted by the Association of Asian Americans.

What? Why was it boycotted. I haven't seen it.

It was boycotted for the stereotypical Chinese woman, with a bad accent, and garish make-up. Then the woman was ridden as if she were a stiff board, going down a water tube.

I haven't seen the movie either, especially after learning about the boycott. What I did read, that it was the second most offensive movie to Asians, after Micky Rooney's portrayal of a Japanese man in Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Another boycott that is going on is of hot pockets. what does a kungfu master have to do with ham and cheese hot pockets?

Oh, and not to mention the woman that played the chinese lady wasn't even chinese.

Oh dear, my favorite movie in the entire WORLD is Breakfast at Tiffany's!

I think it's the second-most-loved movie (after Casablanca) ever?

Can someone tell me how "scary" Horton is? I have a 3.5 year old who LOVES the book, but is generally very timid and easily frightened by typical toddler "scary parts". (E.g., "Ursula" in the Little Mermaid scares him (we fast-forward), as do several scenes in "Finding Nemo").

Any thoughts from those who have seen the movie?
