or is it a good idea to start learning how to play piano online? Can you recommend a good online tutor or school? The kid is 7 and wants to try. Is it hard to see on the screen which keys to play? I know nothing about musical instruments

I actually think it could be ok. I learned at a young age and it is mostly finger exercises and very simple three note melodies at that level. I wish I could give you a resource but not sure about online. Maybe call and ask someone at Chuck Levins the music shop in Wheaton, MD?

It is nice to see you support this even when you don’t have experience. It takes plenty of practice but when you learn at a young age it is so much easier than when you are older.
