I have THE class of my life coming up and need a super-slammin' song for my opening warm up. I have been searching all week and nothing seems right. I've gone through millions of suggestions and still haven't found the ONE. It cannot be Latin, but can be international. It can be American, 70s, 80s, 90s or now. I'm looking for something a bit urban, but nothing techno or over-computerized, nothing too tini-bopperish. Something powerful, catchy, clean and appealing to ages 30, 40, 50...oh and fast. I have to find it by Friday! Suggestions welcome.

How about something from Santana's "Supernatural" ? I don't know how many BPM you need ...

Or something from U2's "Achtung Baby" ?

Estelle's "American Boy"?
Pitbull's "Calle Ocho (I Know You Want Me)"? (or is that too latin?)
KLF "The Power"?
Snap "Rhythm is a Dancer"?
Gnarls Barkley "Crazy"?

How about Stevie Wonder, I Wish? Or Earth, Wind & Fire's Let's Groove.

ooh...this is so tough.

I was debating Crazy because I love that beat. But the melody is kind of mellow. I need more happy.

Calle Ocho, I love that one, but not clean enough.

I Wish, I LLLLOVE, is already on my playlist after the warm up.

KLF, Rhythm Dancer are up there with I like to Move it Move it, but are overplayed by every instructor out there.

My students seem to be pushing me toward Aint No Other Man by CHristina A. What do you think? I like the beat and the melody, and her kick ass voice, but is it too teenager-ish?

I never heard American Boy or the U2 song, so I will check those out. Oh and I've got Supernatural's Maria Maria for cooldown. Great album.

ahhh! 18 hours to decide!

Not sure what mood you want. Here are some that really get me going during exercise ...

Get up Offa that Thing, James Brown
Brooklyn Funk Essentials (Bop Hop, maybe?)
Big Time Sensuality, Bjork
Atomic Dog
Up for the Down Stroke, Parliament
Jump in the Line, Belafonte
Sugarhill Gang, Rapper's Delight (?)
White Lines, Melle Mel (?)
Fishbone (Boneyard maybe?)

ooh I like the James Brown. Especially DJ Ali remix from Robots. I think maybe we have a winner. I think. I'll test it in class tonight.
