The show's filming schedule is just crazy delayed. The show is behind current events by like 2 years now. The marriage special was filmed in almost real time. She is still married to that guy.

I put it in the background as I do something else because it is so slow! Too many sit down interviews and they are repetitive: Kody is an absentee dad and was a lousy dh, Robyn sucks and still wants a plural family, being away from Kody is great, Coyote Pass is a big issue...We get it!

The show is way behind. Not sure why they did that. But now that Garrison is gone, I think it's pretty clear that there's an end in sight to this series. I can't imagine they'll want to continue it now.

I thought this too but they do appear to be moving forward and have filmed in the aftermath of his death.

It's good income and not that much filming. I think they'll continue as long as TLC wants them to.

Janelle seems to have moved to North Carolina and opened a pick your own flower farm with one of her daughters and SIL. Christine is back in Utah with her new husband. Meri is also in Utah living in her grandmother’s house and renting it out as a bed and breakfast. Kody and Robyn just put their house up for sale. Meri also petitioned their old church to dissolve her marriage to Kody.

I think they need to change the name of the show.

Doubt that will happen, although TLC did rename Jon & Kate Plus 8 once Jon was no longer in the picture.

Yes and I think TLC was probably ambivalent but the last few years have really reupped interest in the show.

Also I think its come out that for the first time basically ever the last few years have seen the women getting paychecks THEMSELVES from the show. Prior it all went into Kody's accounts as a family asset. As the three OGs start out on their own, this is very valuable income that is helping them establish financial independence in a way that would be really difficult without the show. Meri I could see walking, she is the least connected to the family apparatus and has the most financial independence with the B&B. She was already more financially stable than the others through her Lularoe machinations and now I think is really totally fine all on her own. Christine remarried but Janelle needs a few years to build that and should not deny herself the steady income.

Do you think Kody will ever get the wake up call and realize his flaws as a husband and father. He only wants to point out that everyone else is at fault for the state of his relationships. I am mostly pissed about his comments about the kids. As the parent he needs to be the one to resolve the issues with them and stop expecting his children to come begging for him to be in their lives.

If the suicide of his son didn’t do it, what would?

I hope all the women make $$$$. They’re all victims of a terrible system and Kody’s constant poor decision making.

In terms of Meri, the thing is that B&Bs don't actually make you much money, usually, though with the fact that she's well known she may get enough crazed fans to keep her going. Plus, the area she's in maybe has a low cost of living?

Janelle is the one who I worry about. Flower farms are quite hard to make a living from, though reality TV can definitely help a business get known enough to get going. And North Carolina's climate does allow flowers to grow almost all the time, so that's helpful.

In terms of Kody, I think he's not able to let any self criticism in, but does anyone post-divorce really benefit from a major rehash? When it's over it's over. For sure you have to figure out what you need from a future partner, but usually self-criticism is a well it's easy to drown in. I dislike him as much as the next lady, but expecting him to blame himself for his son's death seems a bit much.

I refuse to watch and I have watched every other season. They are milking old news and making money off of their fans without providing timely content.

I don’t think anyone is saying Garrisons death was his fault. What is his fault is cutting him and many other children off and refusing to bury the hatchet over perceived slights Cody felt they did. He’s the adult and the parent and should be making all the effort to negotiate a better relationship with his children. He’s been especially cold towards Savannah and Ysabel for no reason.

Meri still does lularoe and she also does “retreats” at her B&B so that brings in extra money. I’m guessing the wives renegotiated as they separated from Kody to make sure they got their share from the show.

I’m actually more interested in their lives now than I was during the Vegas years. Kody has always been awful so there’s some vindication in seeing the wives finally walk away.

At the beginning of the episode they state it was filmed in late 2022.
