Katie Couric

Now she'll have the reputation for unethical journalism following her for the rest of her life. The producers of Jeopardy dodged a bullet!

I saw some commenters elsewhere suggest that perhaps she is a narcissist. Narcissists do not think they are wrong, ever, and would happily share their stories to prove how strong and amazing they were (even when the rest of us are appalled).

Just look what she wore at her dd's wedding! Mememe!

How can there be so many opinions on a book that hasn’t been released yet?

OK. We won't have an opinion about her shielding RBG's racist comments until the books exact release date.

RGB, RIP, but ran into some trouble when she discussed abortion and population control. Her comments weee vague. But it wouldn’t be shocking to learn that a white feminist had troubling views on race.

Katie says she has "no relationship" with Matt Lauer - book includes texts!

Juicy.

Is this the influence of a sort of perverted brene brown effect here?: Apparently she feels she was quite "brave" (her words) in being honest about her competitiveness with norville and writing about it and then she wanted to add that she was feeling "vulnerable" about how the book and she were being challenged/confronted (in part I think for just unprofessional behavior now or undignified, behavior whatever you want to call it in writing what she wrote). She's going to call HERSELF brave? She adds that She was meaning to be cheeky or funny apparently, and she seems surprised she has hit the wrong mark here despite doing that over the years (she seems to think she's adorable much of the time). Surprised by her lack of self awareness...i don't know Deborah Norvell, my guess is she was and is a major perfectionist as she said. So what? Maybe she should have looked at her own envy rather than trash her, forcing her to now backtrack and say she is "one of the kindest" people she knows (norville). What a disappointing person couric is. Who knew? I did not. Too much privilege, too much lack of awareness, too much self centeredness and no humility...interesting she trashed martha stewart for her lack thereof...looks Ike projection.

I was referencing this gossipy page six summary, not the RBG issue. I just hate the whole spirit of the book.

Yeah, it's always other people. She was just "joking" (can't you take a joke? You're so sensitive, I am sorry you took it the wrong way" etc). The jokes are just being shown as "clickbait" she said...if you read and buy the book you'll see...it's "her perspective", she said nice things too! Oof..so off-putting.

I'm landing with narcissist - this rings exactly true. The book sounds revealing in a depressing way. I don't really care that much about Katie, but as a middle-aged DC person I've been aware of her most of my life, and it's sad to look back on her now and see what she was.

I read a WaPo article with book excerpts, and then got interested in the nanny dispute, so then I read some tabloid article about the nanny's point of view. The nanny might be a weirdo too, but she said some interesting things that made sense to me - that everyone was always propping Katie up - not just at home but at work too. And that Katie was a slob who totally neglected her home life (because work was where she was getting her narcissistic supply, why spend any effort on her home/family life?). If Katie were more self-aware, she would have left that whole nanny business out of her book, but instead apparently she spent many pages on it.

Is it surprising ? I mean , is it really surprising that Katie Couric—a white woman—is thoroughly lacking in self awareness, is self centered , lacks humility and , reeks of privilege? It is surprising to me that somenof you feign surprise.

Katie was like "OMG, my psycho nanny was obsessed with me!" Such a narcissist thing to do.

Not feigning, thought she was a more mature person. My mistake.

I find her more relatable than 99.99 percent of other TV news ice queens. She has a hot loaded husband, a huge career, close-knit fam and more money than God. And her publicist is playing the press like a violin with this book.
