How is there not a thread about that lunatic dad who screamed at the Loudon school board?

It's a shame there are so many people who don't understand how viral spread works, but just because they're vocal, it doesn't mean we should listen to them. Their lives should be saved despite themselves.

Have you missed EVERY SINGLE epidemiologic study showing minimal spread in schools when masks and distancing are implemented?

And have you missed how often the schools that are only open two days a week have had to close?

My DC's private is hybrid and not closed once.

That’s only because the parents wouldn’t stand for it and the school would go under.

He points out a sad truth. We care more about trash than school kids in this country.

Am I the only one that thinks its weird he isn't identified?

Um no. Trash collectors don’t face anywhere close to the risk of acquiring Covid on the job as 15 people spending 6 hours in a poorly ventilated room.
Do you know nothing about viral load?

What if none of the 15 people (likely fewer) have COVID. How much virus is loaded?

Well most families in NOVA are choosing to remain virtual, so this is probably true.

Actually not true. Perhaps for Loudoun - but the pendulum is swinging the other way and at least in Alexandria, Fairfax and Arlington the majority of parents are pushing for in person.

Uhhhh at the FCPS school I work at, over 100 parents have switched their kid to virtual when given the opportunity last month.

Good, so it’ll be even easier to get RTS off the ground and help set protocols.

I mean, sure? But it is not the "majority of parents." It is a minority of parents. A minority of majority affluent parents. All the people screaming about "oh what about the most vulnerable." The most vulnerable and at risk students that are not logging on to do anything are remaining virtual.

DP. Do you really think the parents of the most-vulnerable students have the time to lobby against DL? Do you really think it’s easy for parents who *have* to leave the house for work to help their kids with DL? Thank god for the affluent parents who are doing the lobbying and speaking for the most vulnerable populations.

Well, thank goodness all those poor children have you, the white knight, running in to save them from DL.

Get child care. The volume table don’t want to go back. It’s the affluent who can afford but refuse to pay for care having the fits.

I have no problem affording childcare, and I suspect you don’t either. The low-income parents who have to leave every day for work aren’t so lucky. They have to leave their kids at home to figure out DL for themselves. No wonder so many kids are checking out.

But I still think schools should open.

I disagree. I think his utter rage and disgust was raw and expressed so much of what millions of other parents are feeling. He was honest. I applaud him.

His kids need to be taken by CPS.

Go away, lunatic.

Since the alternative is you, insisting we keep DL indefinitely, yes. Thank goodness they do have people willing and able to get loud and advocate for ALL children.

No one is saying indefinitely but as a community we all need to help stop the spread to meet the numbers to safely return to school.

Well then there wouldn’t be a risk. But over the course of a school year there’s a very high chance that someone from that group would become positive
NOVA has much higher rates than many other regions of the country in case you missed that news.

i'm in Loudoun, and we switched from Hybrid to DL in the spring. BUT, it has nothing to do with what you'tr thinking.....we'd choose 5 days in-person in a heartbeat if it was available. We just choose not to subject our kids to the stupid concurrent model, which is essentially DL at school.

If you watch the meeting live, they announce the name before the speaker. I just wasn’t watching and don’t care.
