I’m not arguing when people should feel safe doing stuff. I just want people to have correct info.

I’m a public health professional working in Covid, and discussed this with my Covid-doc brother today, if that helps you trust my info.

I’m a teacher- the vaccine does it for me. It does it for most of us. Kids 10-16 are still a concern, but then I feel like every family kind of has to weigh all of the factors and make their choice, as some kids just can’t do the distance learning thing, and there are other things, like mental health or obesity, to consider. I am just sick of people acting like teachers kept school buildings closed. The pandemic did. It was not a good idea to open up before this vaccine.

We are just lucky a vaccine was ready so quickly. What would have happened otherwise?

We would’ve dealt with it. I have kids, too, lady- in the public school system- and I assure you, you don’t love your kids any more than I love mine.

My kids are privileged. I care about the increasing education gap.

Of course you do. God bless you.

I feel bad for the teachers who will get stuck with non-masked students due to a "medical condition."

I’m a teacher and I didn’t take the shot and I am exempt from mask too.

It goes both ways. Relax.

Those of you pushing pushing pushing to get schools open RIGHT NOW should be pushing for faster vaccination of teachers and staff. I can’t believe how heartless Americans are.

Yes... teachers need to be vaccinated but so do parents....

Vaccinated doesn’t mean you don’t catch Covid, it means you hopefully don’t get sick. You can still
Infect others.

So... now we have potentially asymptomatic people (vaccinated people) and kids who tend to be asymptomatic coming home and infecting their unvaccinated parents.

Please.... Virginia is ranked 46 out of 50 based on percentages of vaccines in arms. They are ranking states based on how many vaccines they have and how many have been given. We are at the bottom!!! Let’s spend time getting our vaccine distribution up to speed so it is safe.

I’m not a Johnny come lately - I taught and did education pro Bono work after that - helping kids whose IEPs weren’t being met. I support education, often in line with the school system- but I am not afraid to speak out against the system - when needed in support of kids.

Hahaha! Isn't that the truth! Teachers have progressed from being called lazy and incapable to people that are SO powerful that we close schools for a year! Funny...

Teachers' collective refusal to return to school is why our schools are closed and others are open. It is the truth.

You know- the problem with teachers is- they’re educated.

Hahaha please. Everyone think back to the kids they know from high school who became teachers.....EXACTLY.

or cops or firefighters.

You pass that attitude on to your kids?

Teacher here...

We want to go back safely.

The website we were given to sign up fir a vaccine crashed... it still isn’t back up. Because as soon as we were told there was a way to get back into classrooms safely, we overwhelmed the system.

We want to go back. We just want it safe for us and the kids.

They should have given teachers currently teaching in person priority to sign up first - but no system is perfect I guess.

Yes. So keep distancing and wearing that mask after vaccination.

I agree. We’re getting a vaccine, and this will be over with, but some of my neighbors, with their stupid signs and vitriol- it’ll be a while before I can get over it.

And then- the stuff they’ve taught their kids. Their teachers are keeping the building closed, they’re lazy, they’ve abandoned them. It’s gross.

I feel bad for students who get you as a teacher. I would move my child.

Yes, the relationship between parents and teachers will be changed after this. Less trust, less goodwill.

I’m guessing to new collective bargaining won’t help either.
