I associate WASP culture beginning with the old monied families in New England. They had such high regard for all things English. Think, J.P. Morgan banking dynasty. Typically Irish and Jews were excluded.
You can say that it jumped the shark when the Kennedys were allowed to join their country clubs. The perception continues to evolve. Took anther turn, When Harry Met.. Mehgan. ![]() |
I know I am the twentieth person to post this, but since posters keep saying the same things: WASP is a very specific, narrowly defined social group and culture. It is not synonymous with either White Anglo-Saxon Protestant or with having money. For example, Trump is the antithesis of a WASP. |
WASPs have been bred out. Golden goose analogy. Their legacy does live on however.

WASP culture is no longer a thing.. The seersucker suits are staying in the closet.
I think it's because of marriage. WASPs no longer marry WASPS. And it's been that way for at least 30 years. WASP culture feels very antiquated now. |
You already said this. |

America is about the upstarts and the entrepreneurs, not the “old” money. |
Pinnacle of toxic whiteness. |
+1 This and the "prep" thread. What exactly do you need to know to feel better about yourself, thread bumper? |
Nor Reagan. |
How would you even know? What school does your DC attend? |
