You're ignorant. There is no reason to go door to door and "randomly" stopping Latinos to ask for papers. There's no reason to deport people who have been living peacefully in our country since they were children. That does not help our safety.

They are here unlawfully; they have to go back.

Not to mention that the majority that have been taken in are not living peacefully. They have committed crimes.
And, from what I understand, ICE is not going door to door and randomly stopping people for papers.
They have a list of people they are seeking. They are going after those that have committed crimes.

I work as a public interest lawyer and frequently encounter undocumented immigrants in my work. I have found most of this population to be hardworking and committed to their families. What is your personal experience with this population? I am asking sincerely.

Why is "hardworking" always used as some excuse for breaking the law?

Should "hardworking" murderers be set free?

What about the "hardworking" bank robber who is committed to supporting their family?

"Hardworking" criminals are just that - criminals. Deport all illegal immigrants.

Madoff was hard working

Try reading the article before setting up your very own strawman.

Maybe a bit exaggerated but:
"Immigration officials confirmed that agents this week raided homes and workplaces in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, the Los Angeles area, North Carolina and South Carolina, netting hundreds of people. But Gillian Christensen, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said they were part of “routine” immigration enforcement actions. ICE dislikes the term “raids,” and prefers to say authorities are conducting “targeted enforcement actions,” she said." (emphasis added)

Must say I liked the Orwellian element at the end. "It's not a raid -- those are mean and cruel, we're the nice people". What's that old saying about unknown animals and ducks?

Might also be worth pointing out the every authoritarian dictatorship as make the claim that these types of actions and control of the populate was "for the peoples' own good and was keeping them save." While there are a lot of people out there than can kick my ass very easily I'm much less afraid of them than I am of overbearing law and order governments and those who support them.

Oh, please. Did you feel the same “authoritarian” boot when Obama was president? This is not new. And, happened under Obama as well.
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/01/obama-family-deportation-raids-217329

The Obama administration confirmed Monday that it began a new wave of arrests of Central American immigrant families over the weekend, moving forward with deportations of mothers and children despite an outcry from immigrant rights groups and potential political fallout for Democrats.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said in a statement that 121 people were taken into custody in Georgia, Texas and North Carolina in recent days and will soon face deportation.

"This past weekend, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) engaged in concerted, nationwide enforcement operations to take into custody and return at a greater rate adults who entered this country illegally with children," Johnson said. "This should come as no surprise. I have said publicly for months that individuals who constitute enforcement priorities, including families and unaccompanied children, will be removed."

Perhaps he did, I know he let more illegals in than any other president and tragically failed americas poor by not securing his country's borders. It's nice to have someone in charge who loves all Americans again, both rich and poor.

Keep drinking the Fox News/Breitbart Koolaid, by all means.

The facts: Obama Administration had turn-backs at the border counted as deportations so the numbers are skewed on the high side of what enforcement he did. He also stopped the wholesale deportations of the Draemers by Executive Order, did not deport many we had in jail for crimes once they served their time and gave a nod and a wink to every jurisdiction that refused to comply with an ICE detainer, allowing criminals who also were undocumented to stay.

I read the article and there is nothing wrong with PPs statement. they are literally going door to door, going to schools, holding random checkpoints in unmarked cars asking for documents. They are not just targeting people who have been charged with a crime, as the administration has claimed. They have deported some people immediately, according to the article, and have detained others. Someone please tell me how this makes America more safe. I'd argue it actually has the opposite effect, as it freaks out the entire immigrant community, members of which will no longer report crimes to the police.

They are NOT going to schools. Read the article. Kids are afraid, but there are no raids happening at school and there likely will not be. Schools are considered off-limits for ICE.

They don't have to set foot in the schools if kids are living in fear that their parents could literally be picked up and disappear while they are sitting in a classroom. You go to school, and pray that mom and dad are still there when you get home. You think that's good for kids? You planning on disappearing to a foreign country while your kid sits in a third grade classroom? Idiot.

The irony of all this is when we do try and send back immigrant hardened criminals, their OWN COUNTRY won't take them back so we keep them here to continue their crime spree on our citizens. Nice, huh? Their OWN countries are like, "he sucks. we don't want him. We know he's our citizen, but he's in your country illegally. you keep him." and we're like, "okay. we'll keep him because we don't want to hurt any immigrant's feelings."

And who will be next? The blacks? The Asians? You've gotten to work on the Latinos and the Muslims... Let's make this county white again, right?!

You racist pigs are beyond disgusting.

I work in an elementary school in the area. We are giving parents fliers about what their rights are, how to prepare in case they are picked up and community resources.

I'm glad the school is doing that. I used lived in that area and I worry about my former neighbors and their children.
