Yay on Michelle Obama. She is very bright, has an accomplished professional background (Harvard Law, Hospital Administrator) has 2 beautiful children and also speaks her mind. Laura Bush is such a wall flower IMO, I"m thrilled to have a first lady who speaks her mind. Further, I dont interpret her comments as unpatriotic. Most people I know arent particularly proud of Americas history of racial oppression and oppression of women, it's a very ugly part of our history and one that wounds many deeply. That said, she and her husband show the most patriotism by pursuing political efforts to help the underserved, and of course by pursuing the White House, the most powerful vehicle of change and one that requires them to lose every possible second of privacy for decades to come, talk about sacrifice.
On a lighter note, I love that Michelle and Barack have a twinkle in their eye when they look at one another, that cant be manufactured and it's refreshing. And on an even lighter note, I loved her purple dress and her sense of style! |
Again another person who needs to attack Laura Bush in order to build up Michele Obama. Sad. Disagree on Laura--she is no wall flower, she is a wonderful classy woman. |
How amazing was Michelle last night?!!!!
MAMAS FOR OBAMA!! ![]() |
YAYAYAYAY for Michelle. NO WAY for Cindy. |
hooray for classy, intelligent women! |
shes not attractive- shes not super smart- shes a leeach. Oh and NAY |
During her speech last night, I was moved to wish I could vote for her instead of her husband. A female, smart, articulate, passionate person ... that's why I voted for Clinton in the primary. I often wished the same thing during the WJC administrations. |
not attractive? I think she is absolutely stunning and beautiful...the best looking first-lady (potentially) since Jackie O. But this isn't a beauty contest anyway. Oh and Cindy is not a leach off her own charity? She's like an old dried up Paris Hilton. |
I'm going to assume you're talking about Cindy McCain here, because otherwise your next of kin should have you committed asap to the insane asylum with the most immediate openings. Said asylum will also ideally have tutors for grammar and spelling. Oy. |
nice. real nice. such a great come back. sticks and stones. someone has an alternate opinion and thats what u resort to? grow up. |
I'm a lifelong democrat and while I thought Michelle was very poised and articulate, there is something about her that I just don't like. I can't really put my finger on it though and I don't hold it against Obama. He's still got my vote! |
OMG. Are you aware you just told someone else to grow up in the same post where you said "sticks and stones?" No - I don't object to an "alternate opinion." What I object to is someone basically referring to another human being as a dumb, ugly, leeach (?) - the fact that Michelle Obama is none of these things is almost irrelevant. When I think of the language and attitude you are teaching your kids all I can do is shake my head. |
Clearly you have information the rest of the world is lacking. Do inform us oh exexpert on supr smrt leeaches, how did u figr this out on Meshel O'bima...? Oh and YAAAAAAY Michelle O! ![]() BTW, OT. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Dem and also PRO Laura Bush. How can you not love a librarian who pushed for women's rights? |
Her speech reminded me of a coached witness or a precocious child actor. |
Yeah, she's been told to tone it down. She did seem a bit more controlled than in past speeches. I prefer the passion, but I guess most people can't take it and feel threatened. |
