Yup. Her and Laura were the only ones I thought might make a stink so if they're rolling over, you can forget it. It's a done deal.

good

Thanks for weighing in Jeannie Franklin.

Just a parent who supports the program plan

Let us guess, you are at a W school that has everything and yet, still gets a big upgrade while other schools go without.

nope

In 10+ years of watching board meetings I have never seen a board president act this way in telling board members when they can/can't speak, cutting board members off and acting like a complete dictator. This role really went to her head, she needs to humble herself quickly. She is a terror and would be awful as a council member.

Seemed judicious and professional actually, obviously had her own opinions but ran things correctly.

And to be clear, she seems very dim and has shallow opinions

Who uses the word DIM? She isn't but there is some kind of self interest between the older BOE members and a lot of bullying going on.

Who questions who uses what words on an anonymous board? lol she’s dumb

I don't think she's dumb, but she's playing a dangerous game with our kids' education for her own self-interests.

Obviously she didn’t as cited by the State BOE.

+1

The whole thing was gross. This is why people are turned off by politics. Brenda should be ashamed of herself.

I hope Brenda retires from the board. She isn't an effective advocate for her district.

And as confirmed again by the Inspector General. That’s twice her tenure has been deemed to have violated the law.

I don't think she has any friends on the board.

She’s not there to make friends; she’s there to bring transparency and accountability.

But they need five votes to pass anything. She won't be able to do anything unless she can convince her colleagues.

she’s there to bring transparency and accountability. not pursue pet project like Julie and Karla to get elected to their position.

I didn't hear them say that. When was that? But if that is true, that is GOOD news.

It's at around 8:25:30 on the video.

Thank you.

I caught it now. I'm glad they're doing that.

I don't know what yo all think is good news. Schools already have "on-level, honors, and AP classes".
The slides and speaker didn't at anything about "in every subject" or "every grade".

Where your expectations so low that you thought they'd cut even that?

And the previous slide was about kicking more and more kids out to Montgomery College for Dual Enrollment instead of increasing or maintaining rigor in the high schools.

Yeah, Rita is out there on her own...

Laura Stewart is supporting her amendment although I don't know that it means anything about the personal dynamics.

What were the amendments?

Some kids want the option of earning an AA for free.

This is what was on the slide (Slide 38):

Identify current state
of curriculum
implementation

Review and analyze audit data to determine existing course offerings by grade
level, honors, and AP across the four core content areas (ELA, Math, Science,
Social Studies).

January 2026

I agree it's not totally clear. Most (or no?) high schools have on-level English... does that mean that after the audit, they'll fix that? Porter did say that one of the things she heard a lot was to not forget about the kids not yet at proficiency... I would think that should mean having grade level courses.

The state wants schools to do that. The Blueprint encourages students to try for up to 60 college credits by the time they graduate from high school.

Which I think is ridiculous. We need kids to have strong, solid, high school educations. Not bastardized, modified higher education courses that dilute the value of actual college degrees.

Most high schools do not have on-level English.
