Thanksgiving ruination due to shutdown

Your potentially catastrophic mistake is assuming there will even be rental cars available. We were stranded at an airport once to severe storms that were going to take 2+ days to resolve in terms of flights. There was a mass push to rent cars and get train tickets. Those both out immediately.

People don't get it. If you fly somewhere now, you are risking being stranded indefinitely. You can't assume train tickets and rental cars will be available once there are huge and massive delays, because millions of people will be trying for it all at once. You'll have to go out and buy a brand new car at this rate.

Just don’t go then.

How well will that sit over with millions of Americans? People will be missing weddings, funerals, or even cancer or other treatments at special clinics. People will lose thousands of dollars on vacations they booked months ago and now cannot reach.

It is not so easy as saying "just don't go".

Very dramatic! I’m on a work trip right now. I packed some extra stuff just in case. This isn’t 9/11 when airports were closed for days. 90% of flights will still be on.

Well, the cancer people should still go. The rest doesn’t have to sit well with anyone, it’s rather the point isn’t it?

Famous last words. The 10% cut starting tomorrow is just the beginning. You honestly think you'll be able to continue hassle free if this problem keeps getting worse and 10% canceled flights turns into 20 ,30, or 40% cancelations soon? Ha, have fun trying to rent a car when that happens, and be prepared to sleep in an airport for a week and half because all Airbnb and hotels get booked for outrageous prices as millions scramble to find lodging due to being stranded.

My point to point regional airports are not on that list but as always, with the FAA, it’s a domino effect.

I am supposed to travel to Europe the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I will be pissed AF if something delays or disrupts this trip and will be letting everyone responsible know it.

Do you know how frustrating it is to hear that everyone- like you- is all ITS JUST FINE. People are working without pay. Consumers should be striking but goodness knows Americans cant be uncomfortable for two seconds.

No…as you acknowledged yourself in your statement, people can’t work without pay. If I don’t show up at my job I’d be fired.

I think at this point people will just riot and start being destructive.

100,000s of thousands of federal employees have been working without pay for over a month and struggling to to figure out how to pay their bills, millions of SNAP recipients are facing heightened food insecurity, and you have the nerve/lack of self awareness to make multiple posts whining about your European vacation possibly being disrupted?

All I can say is karma is coming for you.

So go and spend you thousands sitting in an airport or Motel 6.
