Wicked 2

I was more annoyed by the 35 mins of previews than anything else.
Didn’t love how the Wizard was her bio dad. That was stupid, and the tin man and scarecrow
I did find it entertaining though which is what I went for and I like the messages about standing up for whats right, helping the animals, etc.

Previews are insanely long now. I remember them being ten mins! Now they are 30

I liked it. You all had me worried, as I took my kids, but it was pretty PG rated.

Wedding scene was fun, so was what happened to the Wizard in the end. Lots of twists and turns my kids didn’t see coming (tin man, elphaba’s dad, the endings for Elphaba and Fiyero)

I’m gonna skip it & stream some old episodes of Dobie Gillis.

Same. I saw so many negative reviews, but we saw it yesterday and all of us enjoyed it. In fact DH said he liked it better thann the first one. (DH 64, DS 19, DD 21 ,and me 56). There is nothing out of line about it.

Posters who keep mentioning the “twist” that the Wizard was Elphaba’s dad- didn’t you know that from like the first scene in the first movie?

Yeah Goldblum's voice is way too distinctive for that to be a surprise.

Yes, they gave plenty of indication in the first movie the Wizard was Elphaba’s biological father.

The leads are amazing. Jeff Goldblum is, as always, annoying as hell. Visually these movies are gorgeous. We’re probably going to watch The Wizard of Oz this weekend, which will be fun after seeing this.

I think my kids were just trying to keep up with who is who in the first movie, having never seen anything Wicked before, so it wasn't like they were picking up on subtle clues.

I liked Wicked 2. I liked the first one more (more fun, better songs), but I would watch Cynthia Erivo sing the phone book--her voice is golden.

My god, how did Michelle yeoh get that part. She can’t act, sing, and her accent is horrible. Such a weak link in an incredible cast.

And absolutely no one bought the Fiyero/Elphaba pairing, let alone how Fiyero pointed a weapon at Glinda. Awful character development.

What sex scene? I just got back, nudged my daughter that there was gonna be a sex scene because I heard it here, and there wasn’t.

And visually stunning, IMO!

Yes! I was honestly shocked about it. It was so gross. The idea that a gorgeous man would choose that ugly green witch over beautiful Glinda is ludicrous and laughable.

And then when he turned his gun on Glinda? Worst character development ever!

Elphaba isn't ugly. And she has more character than Glinda--trying to save the animals and help people understand that something bad is happening in Oz.

She may have more character but she is not attractive at all. Elphaba and Fiyero had no chemistry.

Fiyero and Glinda didn't have chemistry either. Maybe you're seeing what you want to see due to your own biases.

I agree with this too. But in the real world, a handsome man like Fiyero wouldn’t have chosen the green wicked witch. Sorry.

I mean... I feel like the problem with this statement is obvious.

? Are you actually trying to make this about race now?

Oh, honey…

I am so confused by how visceral these reactions are. It’s not even a sex scene - they kiss, sing to each other, briefly levitate and then cut to a shirtless Jonathan Bailey. It’s so PG rated.

+1. I was nervous to see it with my older elementary kids but it was totally unremarkable.

Well then you’re blind. It was totally implied. Plus Fiyero took off his shirt, Elphaba was disrobing and she laid on his bare chest and they kissed.

I hope you’re joking. Michelle Yeoh is phenomenal. Did you ever see Memoirs of a Geisha?
