+1 The virtue signaling is ridiculous. |
Yup! Most don't seem to understand that we all pay if people don't have decent, affordable healthcare. If it's $200 to go to Urgent care, they don't. they wait until extremely sick and go to the ER and what could have been an UC visit and an antibiotic prescription is now 3-4 days in the hospital with pneumonia or worse. And they still cannot pay for that $30K+ hospital bill, so now who pays? We all do over time as prices are increased to cover those who cannot pay. It's been that way for decades. We need Universal Healthcare for everyone, with the options to purchase more care if you desire. |
Sucks we don’t get anything for current kids. |
I think the PP is talking about relatives who voted for THIS and are not smart enough to realize it would affect them. And no, most don't know "they are on medicaid". back in 2012, many were "happy to finally have affordable healthcare" but they hated Obama and the concept of "Obamacare"---they were not smart enough to to realize the ACA and Obamacare are the same damn thing. Many of us have plenty of empathy and are happy to pay more in taxes, but we are sick of people voting against themselves and then complaining when the shit they voted for happens to them. Somehow they only thought it would happen to "someone else" (ie someone with darker skin color in most cases) |
Well it should be a human right, and we should get rid of the for profit system we have and follow all the other civilized nations in this world. It may not be perfect, but it's 1000x better for most people. |
MAGA doesn't care. It's God's will. -Party of family values and pro-life |
DP: Slight difference---medicare is something we have all paid into for decades by the time we get to use it. And if you are higher income in retirement, you will still pay $800/month+ for everything beyond Part A, so it ain't cheap. |
Read the bill. Children with disabilities, which this situation above falls under, aren’t losing coverage under this bill. The state they live in MAY choose to reduce their coverage in the future - and states have ALWAYS had the right to adjust how they administer Medicaid, which includes tightening restrictions or removing groups entirely. It seems like most of the US - and this thread - wasn’t aware of that until this bill came up. |
So, rich liberals are kind to donate to charities but MAGA just want the rich to be able to get the tax cuts? |
FYI---many who are HHI already donate plenty to various charities. |
But will the parent, who "is healthy enough to work but has to stay home to provide 24 hour care to their kid" be eligible for medicaid and other benefits so the family (kid and mom) can live? |
It’s an international human right it’s a human right in 150 nations. It’s a human right in every developed nation except for the United States. |
I’m well aware of that. I’m asking the PP to defend their position. Saying something is “terrible “ without saying WHY it’s “terrible” isn’t an argument. I’m starting to get why so many people are duped by charlatans. Someone could read the PP’s comment, pat themselves on the back for having “common sense” and avoiding “terrible policy changes” — without bothering to notice that the comment they’ve been taken in by has zero actual content. I’m at least trying to challenge that. |
Not everybody who gets Medicare pays into Medicare. For example, women who don’t work and stay home do not pay into Medicare, but they still get Medicare. |
In my state (PA) Medicaid pays for care for disabled children, and the governor has been clear that it will be cut. A cap is a cut. |
