While they should be monitoring Reddit, I wonder if it'd be unwise to put too much stock in it. I feel like the opinions on large celeb-oriented subs like Fauxmoi and Popculturechat to be really out of touch with how the general public feels. |
No. I do not think it happens.
Reason? They have interesting and busy lives already. All of us here are lacking something, friends, intellectual stimulation, mental health experts, you name it. DCUM is for losers. |
Of course!!! |
Of course |
I think Glennon Doyle fan girls herself on Reddit Wecandohardthings. She admits she rigged an election to do Prom royalty or president or something like that so it would track. |
Do you know any celebrities? Between gigs they are absolutely lounging around, checking social media and feeling bored. They absolutely google themselves too. |
I do, yes. |
I used to work in PR. Yes, we would monitor social and web. Of course |
The way that "Reddit" and "DCUM" are mentioned in the same sentence in this post is a little bit funny to me. I'm on this site because I live in the DMV, and I'm aware of Reddit because that's were everyone is. All respect to Jeff, but if I didn't live in the DMV, I wouldn't be on here. |
Both are google-able. Most forums aren't. They certainly aren't similar in any other way. But the point is that if a celebrity or his/her staff are searching social media to get an idea of what's being said, DCUM may come up. |
How much stock would you put into users with the fauxmoi mindset? e.g. people who love celebs who are social justice oriented. |
I have never googled anything and had DCUM come up as a result. I can imagine this happening for "Larla" maybe, but I can't think of anything else. Okay I just tried it and DCUM didn't come up on the first page of results for "Larla." It did come up for "Larlo." But it was like the 10th result even for that, pretty far down the page. Did you see Jeff post that there are about a half a million users here, and at the highest rate were about a million users? That is not a very large demographic, and it's very focused on the DMV area, which is pretty far away from CA and frankly even the NY scene (which has other sites for its demographic). |
That isn't the same as a celeb using the media themself. Completely different. You were employed to do it for them. |
Judging by the amber Heard v J Depp and Blake Lively threads on DCUM - yes. |
And most certainly the threads about the "Princess" out in CA. |
