A modified hiring freeze and "a large-scale RIF". Whatever that means. |
So no criteria for RIF, just “uuuge” |
What’s interesting to me, in addition to the fact that they don’t realize we can’t be delinquent on our taxes already nor noncompliant with disclosure requirements, is that they exempt statutorily required offices and activities. Guess what is statute? Appropriations Acts. So hard to see how there’s much an agency does that’s not explicitly or implicitly directed in appropriations. |
I think only IRS has tax compliance checks. |
Shhhh. lol |
Regulations implement statutes. Every one is directly tied to a statute. |
I'm pretty sure everything the Executive branch does is covered by statute ... except DOGE. |
Sooooo....if you're not essential during shutdowns, you're eligible for RIF. Unless you're in an office that performs functions mandated by statute or other law, law enforcement, "public safety" (which is not defined), or immigration enforcement. Am I reading that right? |
It says that 'reemployed annuitants' will be separated. Does that mean all military veterans who draw a pension and now work in a fed job? |
No. I think what they meant was retired annuitants. These are people who retired fully and come back to their previous positions, draw a salary while also drawing their pension. There are limits in how it works and such: https://www.irs.gov/government-entities/federal-state-local-governments/rehired-annuitants |
No, they are not considered reemployed annuitants. |
Quickly going through this post and can someone dumb this down the EO for me? Is is basically calling for a RIF? I thought only Congress could do that and it was a long process. I’m with GSA and cuts are expected, so not sure how this changes much but what am I missing? |
yes, you read that right. |
No. That's not true. Disagree. Read the RIF regs |
Can someone give an example of a program that isn't required by law? My husband and I are having a hard time coming up with one. |
