I voted for Harris too. But was making my point...deny it all you want but GenZ voters are over the hyper woke/cancel culture. I'm over it too. |
+1 All three of my teens were hoping for a Trump win, and most of their friends were as well. Particularly the boys. It is now “cool” to be a Trump supporter- again, especially among the boys. We live in a blue area of a swing state, UMC suburban public school. I posted about this a few weeks ago on another thread and a few moms has similar stories. Dems should take note. |
You can now. I used to whisper in restaurants when I told a friend I voted for Trump. I am not afraid anymore, nor are a majority of the voters. The democrats lost to the most unpopular candidate in recent memory. I hope they do some soul searching on why and win moderates back to the party. |
The same lack of consequences that is happening with crime is happening in schools. These decisions aren’t necessarily being made by state or local elected officials, but usually state departments of Ed. It looks bad on principals to have a high suspension rate. I don’t think democrats would have won no matter who was running, people want a cultural shift. |
My kid is a senior in college with a very large academic and social circle... a lot of Trump supporters. |
I don't think that's the correct analysis. |
He manipulates his base with lies. That has been the GOP strategy for decades. His policy plans don’t even make sense for helping middle class people. People believe sound bytes taken out of context and that’s how they decide who to vote for. |
They don’t want boys in the girls bathroom |
I get it. But I attribute most of hyper woke/cancel culture stuff to social media, not to who’s in the White House. People like Musk are making billions on it. They don’t actually want to see it go away. They need it, because the polarity and the anger are all that matter. |
College students self select into groups also especially in large schools. The frat bro experience and circle will be much different than a theater kid or minorities that stick to cultural groups. |
This. And what's striking is that these kids are not hiding their support for Trump and the support isn't just coming from white kids. Last time, it was considered social suicide to support him. That's not the case anymore. |
In 1994, it became somewhat "cool" for teenagers to be conservative.
This was the "Republican Revolution" election that brought Newt Gingrich into power. In 1996, Clinton won reelection in a landslide by moving to the center. |
Hey! You should have kept "smart as a tack" Biden
https://nypost.com/2024/11/10/us-news/biden-nearly-loses-his-balance-as-he-walks-on-delaware-beach/ Bwa! Ha. Ha! HA!!! |
Social contagion among young people works in all directions. But the pendulum keeps swinging, so don’t get too comfortable. |
They all must be uneducated |
