. Wait a minute…in this post it sounds like you are feeling a bit insecure about your kids staying there. Otherwise, why would you care so much? |
Both of my parents were abused at Catholic school, not s*xually though. You have to research how involved the priests are in the day to day administration of the school. At a larger Catholic school you might not have much interaction with the priests and many of the subject matter specialist teachers won't even be Catholic. Nuns can be hit or miss. For me, the local publics would have to be really really bad for me to consider it. FWIW both of my parents have always discouraged me from looking at Catholic schools. |
It’s mere pride and a tight knit community. And there are two sides to every story. Maybe OP is twisting words for DCUM and/or taking offense to fairly innocuous comments about how the new school is. Should the parents walk on eggshells and downplay how much they love it for fear of triggering insecure people like OP? |
It's a pretty effective way to get many people to turn off their brains, open wide and swallow all kinds of ish. Look at the attempt, particular 4 years or so ago, to paint the pursuit of health and fitness as "far right." It would have been just terrible if fear of a new virus caused a mass movement of people away from soda, ultra-processed food and daily dessert and toward daily walks, whole foods and limiting sugar. Imagine the losses that would have been incurred by Nestle, Cocoa-Cola and McDonald's if even 15% of the public who had previously patronized them abandoned their products to shop farmers markets, the outer perimeter of the supermarket and started walking a few times a week and doing exercise videos at home with dumbbells. Not to mention the harm that the pharma companies could have suffered from patients coming off some of their medications. |
You lost me, how is this related to teaching phonics? |
