Sounds like entrapment.

Read the affidavit. The informant told the FBI that he had been bribing Trayon already and offered to get it all on tape to prove it. It's not entrapment if Trayon already was doing it.

Bingo. I'm not sure the recent SC ruling on gratuities is going to help him much either, but stranger things have happened in DC courts.

So the FBI used constructive entrapment. Clever. However, how do you know that White wasn't working with another agency to get evidence against the bribers?

$2,000 a month for a studio is decidedly pedestrian for DC that's within half a mile of a metro. These freaking complexes will market anything as "luxury" lol.

That was my first thought on this tweet too. That’s just a normal DC apartment, not luxury!

+1 that tweet makes it sound like he was arrested for living in an "expensive" apartment?!

The article says between $2,000 and $9,500.

NP. It's alarming that you've giving him even a fraction of this credit/consideration.

White was the only council member who ever really spoke out about crime, rather than try to pretend it doesn’t exist lie the rest of them do. And he’s seen as an obstacle to developers who want to accelerate gentrification in Ward 8 .

So he had to go. So the political/private sector frame-up machine was set upon him.

This pretty much conclusively proves he’s the only one on the council who actually gives a sh!t about low income people in DC.

And why is he being held without bond, and without access to legal council? This city routinely releases armed carjackers on their own recognizance. You’re telling me with a straight face that Trayon White deserves to be held without bond?

Seriously?????

He was released. Please keep up. I work in Ward 8, the residents themselves also need to give a shit about low income people, as clearly some of them don't.

Are you really this dense or just trolling?

Criminals helping other criminals and be criminals.yay DC!

He didn't talk anyway!

Who else did he take bribes from????

Who else on the council is profiting from these bs "crime initiatives" that didn't do anything to reduce crime? What a fitting end to the violence interrupter program.

If the judge believes he is a flight risk they can hold him without bond.

$5.2 million for “violence intervention services” ??

So, the DC police WERE partly defunded after all.

Non sequitur. MPD's budget was never cut, this was just a side attempt to waste money by the Council.

Violence Interrupters, the gift that keeps giving.

The grift that keeps on grifting!

This is much more an indictment of contracting in the District than the efficacy of violence interruption. DC hired someone who lied that they could do make such a program work and DC hired them because at least one public official was bribed to push for their hiring.
