Biden addresses nation soon

The black and white thinking is so exhausting.

Did Biden handle everything about this election perfectly? No. Did he ultimately make a selfless decision for the good of the country? Yes. Did he do it with dignity? Absolutely yes.

He’s a good man and I am very grateful for his leadership.

Biden is old school. Bless him.

Same here. I bawled. I feel safe in Biden’s America. He is a special person - humble, kind, authentic, warm, wise, and a unifier. His age provided wisdom. I will truly miss him in the White House and political landscape. God bless him.

Yes, such a unifier. Our country has never been so unified.

Leadership is what we gave missed most since January 2017.

I'm glad he stepped away from the race, as I don't think he has it in him to finish the campaign let alone another 4 years in office. But I'm also sad for him, and for our country that he had to do so.

More cynically (but also optimistically), I think he set Harris up well by staying in as long as he did. If he'd dropped out 6 months ago, or declined to run at all, Democrats would be very divided on Harris vs other candidates. By waiting until now to drop out, we are much more ready to unify behind Harris without a food fight on the left. She comes into this race from a position of strength now, with no primary battle scars. So what some see as selfishness on his part, for staying in this long - I think his departure was actually well timed.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. It would have been a dog fight if he dropped out sooner.

If he had dropped out six months ago, Democrats would have had a chance to VOTE on their preferred candidate - and I guarantee, Kamala Harris would never have won. She is the candidate by fiat.

I don't mind the way things turned out. Living here in Maryland my choices for who the candidate should be is never taken into consideration because sometimes the person I really like has dropped out after doing poorly in Iowa or New Hampshire

Has there been a 5 day period where Biden was not seen, probably in the last 50 years?
And this was while he made a major announcement.

Suspicion is he was threatened with removal by the cabinet unless he withdrew from the race.
And rumors he cut short his Vegas trip because of a medical incident.

You people are so whacko….
