There isn't any definition of Appalchia that includes where Vance grew up.

Just like Obama, who wasn't one step away and fundamentally transformed this country?

Do you have a hard time counting?

Obama was Senator for 3 years, a state senator for 7 years. He was the president of the Harvard Law Review, had 2 years experience as a community organizer, worked in the corporate world, taught constitutional law, and worked for a law firm. Plus he wrote two books.

That's a lot different from a one-book author who has served for 1.5 years in the Senate, no other governing or political experience.

Also Obama was 47. Still young but not nearly as green as Vance is.

Obama missed almost half of Senate voting.
As for "community organizer", that pathetic joke writes itself.

From Feb 2023 to Jul 2024, Vance missed 39 of 554 roll call votes, which is 7.0%. This is much worse than the median of 2.9% among the lifetime records of senators currently serving.

In 2008 , Obama missed 64% of Senate votes.

64% vs. 7%.

You know, math.

Coming out against universal day care. That’s a good look. So much for wanting to help families. Must be nice to be a millionaire and not have to worry about such things.

Not to mention that if you need daycare, you aren't "normal people" to him. Who lives in a bubble?

I mean he wasn't available to perform the duties he was elected to do.
Doesn't seem like you can comprehend that.

And you are dumb enough to think that precludes him from being racist????

Seriously. Look up the caste system in India.

I didn't think Vance claimed he grew up in Appalachia, but rather in a declining part of Ohio where a lot of folks from Appalachia had moved for jobs (bringing some of their Appalachian strengths and weaknesses with them).

It's abstract to me. Part of my family grew up in Appalachia (i.e., an area that falls within every definition of Appalachia in the prior map), but they were hard working Scots Irish farmers whose descendants generally left the area (having migrated from Pennsylvania and Virginia) and ended up in other regions of the country with higher paying jobs. Most of them are probably Trump supporters but they don't have the social pathologies of Vance's family.

WTF does that have to do with whether or not he is racist?

I was shocked to find out from the other thread that Netanyahu was pushing the WMD narrative. I looked it up and it was true. Even DH didn’t know.
