The opposite is true. If it is a DCC school there will be additional positions like Academy Coordinator created. Plus there would be many more bus routes needed. Having it be its own cluster would cost less. |
What MCPS properties are leased to Adventist schools in Takoma Park? The Takoma Academy property is owned by the Adventists, not MCPS. |
Yep. |
Meh. Details. |
My HS didn't have a full auditorium, it was kind of a pain but we had musicals at another high school in town. We still had a very good theater program. |
Same. |
Why does every school need fields? They could make a specialty school like an Arts Magnet where sports are limited. Similar to how DCPS has Duke Ellington. Or School without Walls in DC which is just a building. They have a robust sports program but kids metro and bus all over the city for sports practices and games. It is an application school and kids are ok with the setup because of strong academics. MCPS should get more creative |
Hoc and privates like grace lease privates. But some make a good point to put some specialized programs there where all the kids take the same classes. |
They can easily do it at another school or rent space. |
Tell me you have selective memory or you don't have a HS student without telling me you have selective memory and don't have a HS student.
Our overcrowded HS has people in the auditorium all the time. Rehearsing, performing, meeting. There's no time to rent it out to another HS. If you don't remember because it was a long time ago or you were a football player who's parents only went to the field, don't screw it up for everyone else. Also - the time to say, "hmm, let's make it an xx school and not a traditional neighborhood/cluster school" was years ago, and with community input, not a couple years before opening when it's already been being in the planning stages as a traditional neighborhood/cluster school for nearly 10 years |
Blair has more portables than WJ, and yet WJ gets a new school, Woodward, to relieve the anxiety of WJ parents, while Blair does not. Stop whining about having to have Northwood use Woodward for a holding school. Count your blessings. |
There are school districts where high schools share facilities such as football fields and large auditoriums. Woodward got its field, at great expense and against the wishes of its neighbors. It will get its auditorium at some point. Try to hide your over entitlement. |
Sorry, but Blair is over capacity by 363 students, while WJ is over capacity by 688 students. Also, what do you think that new Northwood building is being built for? It will relieve Blair's overcrowding at the same time Woodward relieves WJ's. |
And did high schools do 3 shows a year back in your day? Don’t forget orchestra, band and chorus concerts. |
Name these schools that share facilities. |
