F you. I wrote it as a PSA. A lot of people have more info now. It's painful because I spent a lot of time taking care of this child and in many ways, it feels like he's my kid. You? Why did you write this. Just to be a dick. |
Don't believe me if you don't want to. I don't really care. |
"I will not be checking back on this thread" |
Too bad you aren't God Emperor of DCUM. You can't prevent posts. |
"Uber tracks employees" is abstract, easy to ignore in the moment. A video chat with a live adult is a vivid concrete presence. Even a mere drawing of a face deters people (to some extent) from actions they know are unauthorized. A sexual assault isn't a momentary smash and grab and run. It's something that ramps up. |
I never put my child in an uber. ever |
[b] and yet others will read and learn. And make better decisions. I never put my kids in an uber alone. nor should you |
Why is it preferable to get raped by a teacher or a peer than a Uber driver? |
take it to another site. Profanity is not welcome here |
Many sex offenders are female, though it is fewer than men. |
I don’t think you can keep kids completely safe and given the built in accountability Uber seems reasonable to me.
Like coaches abuse kids and we still do sports, we’re just careful. But it’s not like we’ve cut out 100% of sports abuse. |
+1 this exactly. Thanks for the PSA but good parents already know this. Their kid wouldn’t be assaulted in an Uber because they wouldn’t have allowed them to take one in the first place. |
How is a 16 year old male more vulnerable to sexual assault by someone driving a car than a 50 year old female? Spell it out for me. |
For that matter, what is an 18 yo going to do to ward off assault that a 15 year old can't do? I'm just not understanding what the extra vulnerability is. |
Clearly you do. |
