Me again, I don't know a lot about Capitol Hill - bit - again - Money No Object - esp. if I worked in that area - I think it would be fun and funky and neighborhoody - like Georgeotown without the commericalism. Sorry for the bad spelling..... |
I live in 2br condo in Georgetown now and I love it. In an ideal world, we'd buy a house here, but since none of my friends can afford to live here and will all be moving to the suburbs, we'll probably follow them out there.
Who cares how nice your house is if you have no one to walk over and visit? |
If money were no object - definitely NOT D.C. area! Sadly, isn't that why we are all here? |
If DC proper, Foxhall in a heartbeat. I stopped taking metro long ago (LA girl at heart) and lived in Foxhall for two years. Plenty to walk to, if you're willing to trek: Jetties, Nail Salon, and even Georgetown when the weather's nice. We even walked to and from Dupont / Foggy Bottom on a semiregular basis when the weather was nice. I'd also consider Kalorama, but I love having my own yard and the less traveled feel of Foxhall.
If DC metro area, Clarendon hands down. |
Can we talk more about Capitol Hill?
What kind of housing are we talking about? Is it family friendly? Are there parking? |
Capitol Hill is very family friendly. Some houses have and off-street parking space or a garage, lots don't. It is usually pretty easy to find street parking. |
If money was no object, Georgetown (east of Wisconsin) or Capitol Hill. The money solves the space, parking and schools issues. |
I'm with you. I would get out of this entire area. |
I'd live in one of those beautiful brownstones on Q Street between Connecticut and 17th Street (Dupont).
Or (because I vacillate between a yard/no yard and car/no car) one of those big beautiful homes off New Mexico (like on Garfield Street). Right now we live in an apt in Glover Park. |
