Lol. These were always in my nanna’s pocketbook! Old lady candy for sure! What about those candy dots on the roll of paper and Pennies that were wrapped in tissue paper to look like a ghost (the worst !) |
Yes! Also made of wax! You bit off the top and sucked the fluid! |
Remember the gum cigarettes?! You blew out and a puff of sugar came out!! Also pipe cleaners! |
Nibs (small twizzler pieces) |
Same here and we ate them, but we didn't covet them as much as we did the manufactured and heavily advertised candy. Delicious homemade baked goods? We could get those any time. |
NP. I lived in a great neighborhood. And no one was allowed to eat caramel apples or popcorn balls due to fear of razor blades or poison in them. It was weird paranoia, but it was definitely a thing -- in all neighborhoods. You may have predated it. |
Necco wafers! I was convinced that the different colors had different flavors and that the gray ones were the best, when, in reality, they all tasted like chalk.
I still want a gray cat called Necco, though. |
Satellite Wafers - like communion with sprinkles inside. https://www.oldtimecandy.com/collections/walk-the-candy-aisle-satellite-wafers |
Yes! Nik L Nip wax sticks. I loved chewing on the wax. |
The 1983 Tylenol scare changed everything, including Halloween. |
Meant 1982. Knew it was in the fall but forgot the year. |
I loved them too. The black ones were licorice and the orange were the weird peanut butter. |
Whistle pops!
|
Nooooooooooo! |
Marathon bars, Alexander the Grape (loved), Boston baked beans (which I hated), and individually-wrapped root beer barrels |
