+1. Adding that in the south it’s considered low class to have a normal trendy name. The middle name is often a family name or you go by your middle name.

It's not low-class in the south to have a normal given name like Anna or Alice as long as it is time-tested. It's low-class to have a trendy given name that is someone else's last name, like Emerson or Kennedy. There are more American girls with those names as first names than there are people in the world with those names as last names, LOL.

I am very familiar with rich southerner naming convention of stringing together a bunch of last names and calling it a day. While that does persist, it is perceived as overly pretentious, so you see lots of rich people just going with classic names like Anna and Alice to not draw attention.

I’m surprised so many find her likable. I think she has a lot of issues and is overly dramatic.

Many widowers remarry quickly especially if the former spouse was ill for a long time.

I remember seeing an announcement about the death of a mom of a student in my DCs class around Thanksgiving. I met the student's new step mom at back to school night the next September. So less than a year later the dad remarried. I think having young kids increases the speed too.

DP. Do we know that she was ill for a long time though? I keep seeing that without any references to anything. My dad died from prostate cancer that he had for ten years so I get your point. But frequently when younger people (under 50) die from cancer they tend to have more aggressive cancers.

I cannot imagine any advantage to speculation about the course of the first wife's disease, but there are plenty of young parents who don't tell their kids they're dying until the last possible moment. If you don't know any, count your blessings, because it's heartbreaking.

And I also don't see any merit in telling DCUM what you'd do if you were in that situation and how much better that would be (trying to shut down a particularly offensive form of speculation here, not that I think it will work)

I don't disagree with your examples being dramatic and perhaps even ridiculous - but this is Real Housewives. She can't be mild-mannered or milquetoast or she wouldn't last on the show. I guess I'd be interested to hear what housewives you found more likeable than Tinsley who were less dramatic than she was, because I can't think of any. Most of them are equally if not more dramatic, and much more cruel/nasty and problematic in other ways (drinking, arrests, racism, etc.).

That’s a terrible photo of her but there are better ones when you click on the link. I think her dress was gorgeous. She should have left off the gold bracelets though. The kids look very happy and also adorable. Hope it goes well for them all.

The first wife (Mimi Dial Bovard) had a brain tumor removed right before her wedding to Robert. This was an issue they knew about and were monitoring for 12+ years.

OK, this is some really important context that has been left out.

This is tough. Everyone I know who had a brain tumor at such a young age eventually died within a decade (small sample size here, but the literature is not encouraging). Vast majority don't get 12 more years of life.

Not sure I could bring one kid - let alone THREE - into that situation. The Bovards were probably discussing "what if's" before they even started trying for their first kid.

In that case, I would need to assume that she encouraged her husband to remarry for the sake of the kids. She had to know the statistics and they are not promising.
