You've been waiting a long time to use that outdated quip haven't you? |
Bull to the last bit. She explained to them how it was going to be and they ignored her. Who brings their dog on an all day trip and doesn’t bring food for it. Who doesn’t feel their kids when making a trip. I think these friends were pissed that op didn’t invite them to stay and were rude intentionally. They could be jealous that op can afford to rent the beach house and showed up with a bad attitude. Op did something nice by inviting them to dinner and you have turned it into her being an evil witch. The “friends” are responsible for taking care of their family. |
I feel bad for the dog! I’d have fed and watered 🐶 first. |
How many times does one feed a dog? When I had a dog it was once in the morning and again at night. Perhaps the dog already ate and would eat again at night. Only people who overfeed their dogs thing they need 3 squares and copious snacks. |
I swear I know these people. We all know at least one family like this. |
You have no manners and are proud of it. We get it. |
Hurts you that it is accurate. |
No, it hurts me because it’s old af. |
Yes. I don’t want to cook breakfast and lunch for everyone. It’s my vacation. So I was clear only dinner will be provided. And also, they didn’t just eat some snacks, they cleared our pantry. |
In other words, you don’t cook. |
Actually, we are a family of six. And, yes, when traveling with another family I always cook for the crowd. Breakfast is the easiest meal to make for a big group. Practically speaking, how do multiple families share a kitchen and *not* cook one meal for the group? Do you take turns using the kitchen? Sounds miserable. |
Well, we are a family of three and I don’t want to cook for your family of six and another family of four. I didn’t sign up to cook for fifteen people 3 times a day on my vacation. We actually cook meals and not just buy some muffins from Walmart. We cook our own breakfast and lunch and only share dinner. |
On vacation? No. I don’t. Not breakfast and lunch at beach houses and mountain houses. When I’m on vacation, I’m on vacation. Dinners are usually ordered out, or go out, or prepared foods from grocery. *Vacation.* That said, when I host, I provide all foods, including snacks. If it’s a family vacation and we’re renting, the adults discuss and assign what foods to bring, make or buy. But no one would begrudge a few granola bars or slices of deli meat. It’s a group effort. |
Geez, I feel like you really misread my post or perhaps I didn't explain myself very well. I am semi-team OP. I said it was rude to just help yourself to things without asking. I said it was rude to bring the dog (or at least not be prepared with the dog's things) As for the last part - OP herself later said she doesn't really like the kids. In no way did I turn her into an evil witch (although she certainly has been attacked by a lot of other posts which weren't mine.) I think this is a clash of parenting styles and not a good fit for vacationing together. Thank goodness it was only half a day. |
OP did you have another post a while back about people you were sharing a cabin with eating your family's bacon? |
