They won't be happy until women have no rights and they get vouchers to subsidize their private school tuition.

The fact that schools neglected to give the commendations in a timely manner either shows negligence or intention. Neither is acceptable, but there is some documentation that, at least at TJ, it was intentional.

One of the schools that neglected to give the award until the issue went public has a principal whose bio reflects, first and foremost, attention to "equity."

^THIS^ x 100. Of course it was intentional. Rewarding some students for their hard work would hardly be equitable to others now, would it?

So, again, tell us why Lewis and Annandale are guilty as well? FCPS should be shouting at the top of their lungs to congratulate Lewis and Annandale students for their NM Commended achievements. Yet those students were also ignored.

Again - because of "equity." If EVERY student wasn't commended, then NO ONE should be. This is now the mantra of FCPS.

More Republican lies.

FCPS has published it. Equity is "equal outcomes."

Which has ZERO to do with what happened. You'll have to get a little more creative in your fearmongering.

Who is fearmongering? Just stating facts. You think they didn't publish that? Equal outcomes. Plain and simple. Only one way to get there. Instead of working to raise the bottom by good, solid instruction, they have decided to push down from the top.

You are attempting to fearmonger.

But it's not working because it's just so GD pathetic.

While I generally thought the statement was reasonable, it is very frustrating to see that West Potomac claimed not to know about the timing issue. I personally talked with the college counselor about this a few years ago, when they failed to notify families timely. Ultimately, the College Board should be making the notifications.

It appears that you are not responding with facts or information--so name calling and profanity always works.

Responding to what? Lies?

The fact is that "equity" has ZERO to do with what happened.

Alternative facts don't apply here.

Well, DD's school managed to notify students in a timely manner a few years ago. They did it at the same time they honored their semi-finalists and AP Scholars. It was fairly early in the Fall. Nice short little reception and ceremony in the afternoon after school. Handed out the certificates. Student Services handled it.

I think it was both- negligent, but with negligible harm, and the official responsible when asked about it, lied and claimed it was deliberate.
This is what really fueled the outrage- thinking it was done for reasons of equity.

Anonymous wrote:This whole thing is unnecessary paperwork.

NMSC should just directly email students.

And yet other schools in other school districts notify their students of their commended status (not all of them very quickly).

How do you know that? Do you have any source?

It's in the report- 15 of 23 schools. Or you could just read this thread.

A lot of people are repeating this talking point of a third party corporation is expecting the school staff to do their work for them. This happens all the time. Those flyers that are sent out by schools, included a lot more work by staff to include the corporations' material into the flyers. Sometimes thru PTA, others directly by school staff. And this is not some random corporate money making opportunity, but one of the most well known academic awards in the country, albeit not the Commended status.

I think things needed to change in how FCPS notified students and i am glad they made changes going forward.
I support NMSC making changes too.

But how hard would it be for that company to just email the kids the info? This is the thing.

Anonymous wrote:Again the tiger moms on racism patrol have been proven wrong. As a FFX taxpayer, I resent this waste of money on a non issue.

+1000 This was such a non-issue. Anyone who is upset by how much FCPS has had to spend on legal fees should go after the money machine known as College Board. It’s beyond ridiculous that they can capture all the contact information on students to sell to colleges (in addition to the testing fee!), but they can’t mail or email a commendation notice??? College Board should be paying FCPS’s legal fees.

+100

Their children are not even all that brilliant. Whining in the National media about “commended” when everyone knows the cut off was a 204 selection index.

Boo hoo.

The kid knows what their score is. Once the ranges are released, they can easily check themselves.
