I would use the one that you link from Valentines Day until Easter and late spring. I find I'm drawn to these colors in the spring. It is very pretty. Buy it, use it, enjoy it! |
Lenox Hannah Platinum. We use it for dinner parties a couple times a year plus 2-3 holidays, sometimes and sometimes incorporated with seasonal/trendier plates. |
Your Grandmother had good taste. I really like both of Grandmother's china patterns. |
No one is using antique China everyday. "Everyday" China is typically a plain bone China that is lead free and dishwasher safe. No one is "bone"headed enough to use lead based fine China everyday. |
And fwiw, newly manufactured China in old patterns (eg my mottahedah tobacco leaf) is lead free. They just use old pattern, not the old methods of production. |
I have Royal Doulton's Flora Dora Green and Nikko's Blue Prose. I use them several times a year for holidays. I also sometimes just like to set my table with tablescapes, because they look nice. |
Oh, nice! I don't think it is too fussy at all. I think it hits a lot of the right notes by not being too busy and a very pretty pattern! |
Mine is Lenox Murray Hill, which I really like. I use it for holidays and a few other fancy dinners. I got 12 full place settings plus most of the accessory pieces when I got married, and I agree with a PP that I really only use the various types of plates (but never all plates at every meal) and the serving pieces. I don't use the teacups and saucers or the big coffee pot or the bowls (cereal, pasta).
I took in a set of Royal Crown Derby Vine when my grandma died last year; it's not really my style per se, but I kind of fell for it when we were cleaning out her house. I did not need a second full set of china and I've yet to use it, but it makes me happy to look at it. My everyday dishes are C&B in a style that I really like, but they're showing a lot of wear and marks from silverware and I can't get replacement pieces or additional serving pieces that I'd like. I need to go at them with some Barkeeper's Friend, but part of me wants to update those. |
Wedgwood Signet Gold, and it is a bit too plain for my tastes now, but I try to use it once a week. |
Rosenthal in the Metropol pattern for day China. Celtic Braid by Lenox for formal Chiba which I have rarely used in the 30 years DH and I have ve been married. |
In addition to being attractive, it’s lighter and sturdier than pottery. |
Never use China. The only ones who really still use it are Boomers and maybe a some GenXers. China takes up way too much space and is a relic of the 19th century. |
You all must be old. People getting married these days ask for their wedding guests to pay for their honeymoon, down payment on their house, etc anything but buying fine China on a registry. Haha |
I have Lenox Tin Can Alley and I we use it everyday. My kids ate off it as soon as they were old enough to stop banging dishes at the table. Has held up beautifully over the last decade. |
+1. I bought it because it’s harder to break/chip, so it can be used more often than cheaper dishware. It will last several lifetimes if you are reasonably careful. |
