Favorite baby name

Naomi - Biblical
Penelope - Mythological
Fionn McCool - Irish (boy, although I guess I could go with Fionna for a girl)

I actually really like Naomi, and I think Penelope (nn Poppy) is adorable. Not too sure about Fionn - though isn't that pretty similar to the popluar Finn?

Anyway, my favorite girls names are Beatrice and Vienna. Don't know if I'd actually use Vienna, but I do like it. I also like Sage.

Boy names...hmmm....I don't really like too many boy names!

I'm suddenly in love with the names McGregor, Keegan and Keane. My husband thinks I'm nuts. My true love is the name Henry but DH hates it. I'm afraid the baby wont have a name for six weeks until we agree on something.

I like made-up names that are someone else's last name. I like Cruise for a boy and Pitt for a girl.
We're french and German so I want to make sure my child is named after a medieval profession practiced in Scotland, like chandler or hunter.

I also like rhyming names for all my children -- like Keagan, Teagan and Breagan.

I like names that also sound like dogs' names like Wilson and Lane. I'm hoping to name our oldest after a street in our neighborhood. Don't you just love Willoughby Lane?

I like the names of pharmaceuticals. I think Symbalta is really pretty for a girl (but I'm going to spell it with an "s" because I'm creative). We're also thinking of Levitra but we'll call him Lev.

We have a Kroger grocery store near here, and I think Kroger's a really unusual name too.

I just met a new student named India and new neighbor named Brinn... I watched a movie last night with a Russian girl named Nikka. I love unique names.

Hilarious! Little baby girl Pitt.

That's even better than all those weird misspellings of traditional names. I have a cousin who intends to name her daughter Gwyndylyn.

Shouldn't your post be on the Farce thread?

I'm so upset, I just saw my new baby's name on this thread. And I wanted so much to be unique and thought no one else would use it! I'm not saying which it is b/c I don't want it to get attention. It is very low on the SSA list etc. I hope that this is a fluke and it doesn't start to pop up more.

There are 2 girls (out of 20 kids total) named Sierra in my son's summer "camp."

Before my son was born we liked Audrey for a girl, but I don't like it so much anymore. I not even going to think about it until we're at least past a first trimester.

A couple in a child birth class we took 8 years ago named their son "Huckleberry" (after a grandfather we were told).

Boy: Henry

Girl: Riley

I'm curious to know where you got Riley. I have an old classmate who came up with that name 10 years ago and I'd never heard of it and saw that it was among top 100 names a couple years ago.

It's an Irish surname. I'd prefer to spell it Reilly but Riley would probably be easier for a girl. I have a thing for using Irish Surnames for first names. I didn't know it was popular now.

Our 2.5yo DD's name is Riley. My husband is Irish and all of his siblings/cousins have Irsih names and now of of their kids do too. We are expecting our 2nd baby and have started researching more Irsih names. If it's a boy it will probably be easy because for several generations back from my DH they have carried on the same few names, just rotated them from first to middle and such. It's it's another girl we are going to have to put some thought into it.

I like Kendall, Leah, Elise, Sasha and Lindsay (though probably couldn't use it due to the Lohan stigma) for girls.
