I'm OP and totally willing to lay off it but the advanced age of so many of the posters here absolutely affects their mindset when it comes to many of these newer services like instacart, amazon, ubereats, etc. They just dont have the familiarity or capacity to authoritatively weigh in, but do so anyway.

how do you know anyone's ages? don't forget this is dcum, everyone knows it all.

The average age of DCUM has been well established as boomers and Xers. That's why everyone acts in shock whenever someone in their 20s shows up

I had no idea that these were the demographics of this site. I thought it was more of an equal mix. interesting.

Yes, it's an extremely older crowd. It was younger when it started 20 years ago but it's really aged up since the X crowd really left middle age

And yet here you are hanging out on DCUM - on your day off. In Florida.

I usually set the tip at about $10 for like $150 worth of stuff. Lately I've been cutting it down when the items come completely horrible, with half the items missing or me being forced to go out to the street to get them. I bump up the tip for great service but lately that rarely happens and it's mostly a win if I can just get functional service

Wow. I live in a house and wounding tip that much on $50. No wonder you are getting bottom of the barrel.

Well good for you but $10 is a perfectly reasonable tip on this volume of food and for the number of bags involved. It's a paid service with other charges thrown in, and the extreme tippers on either end of the spectrum should have no bearing on a standardly generous tip

NP here - You really think less think 7% is a "standardly generous tip?" Oy.

Yes, I do think $10 is a perfectly standard tip for a grocery run. And most of the actual users of the app (and shoppers) agree with me.

DP, but if the "perfectly standard" tip you give yields service so bad you have to complain about it on an anonymous website, you may want to increase your tips.

Well it's the same regardless of the tip amount, which you dont seem to get (not surprising since most of the posters here seem clueless about Instacart) I guess people who dont have money might have the delusion that money magically solves things, but it doesnt when the working staff is the same as the other PP described (mostly mentally disabled)

That must be very sad for you.

I wipe my tears with the money I have until I feel better

Correct. Was that supposed to be saying something meaningful?

My DW is an instacart shopper/delivery person. She wouldn't take an order that paid only $10 ever. Her minimum is $25.

Why is she shopping for Instacart? How old are you two?

Another failed attempt at some kind of stinging comeback. Sad.

No thanks, I'd rather pay others to do it and make money with the time I save! I have wayyyy better things to do than grocery shop

I think the bigger issue is the complex. Shoppers hate delivering to apartment complexes, even more so if their on the bigger side. This may be more of an issue in Fl, since most orders are most likely SFH so the ones that are delivering just don't know the expectation. Some people are ok meeting them downstairs, others will ask for them to come up.

But I can't blame them for asking. Most shoppers do understand it's part of the job and will either avoid apartments, or just deliver to the door.
