I grew up in the 1970s and had an older sister and brother. Starting at the age of 8, I always slept in just tighty whities like my dad and older brother. Would often eat breakfast and watch Saturday morning cartoons in just my underwear. Never thought that was inappropriate and neither my mom or sister ever commented negatively. Based on sleepovers, sleep attire for boys varied a lot in the 9-12 age. Some wore pajamas, some wore pj bottoms without the top, some wore underwear and a t-shirt and some in just underwear, which was always briefs in the 70s. I never noticed where having a female sibling had any influence on sleepwear. Never knew anyone who slept in just their birthday suit back then, that would’ve have been considered pretty weird in my Southern Baptist suburban, conservative world. |
Don't know about that ODS (17) sleeps in the nude and YDS (13) sleeps in boxers and I have a DD (15) too. Perhaps it's just personal preference. |
Sorry to be clueless, but what’s a “goodnite”? A sort of pjs style? |
Its a diaper that’s more like pants |
Boxer briefs and t-shirt - or shorts and t-shirt for boys.
Girls still wear PJs (e.g. roller rabbit) until adulthood. I wear tshirt and PJ bottoms and I'm a middle aged woman. DH wears undershirt (tank style) and boxer briefs Little boys wear PJs until about 8. No one in our family over 8 ever comes downstairs in PJs. It's not our family culture - white WASP. Little kids of course do all the time. |
DS9 and DS12 both sleep in just boxers and have for a few years now. They used to wear actual pajamas, often without the shirts. I prefer less laundry, so I'm happy when they sleep with fewer clothes. |
Same here and I don't miss buying and washing pajamas either. |
10yo does just underwear, 6yo is all over the place. One night he’ll do full pajamas, next night just underwear, next night athletic shorts with or without a t-shirt. |
Same with my DS (15). As long as he sleeps with his door closed and put on something before leaving his room - I really don't see the issue. |
Just boxers after the age of 8 or so. |
Are they sure posts like this arent started by creepy men? |
As a man i suspect that to be the case with this post and most of bedwetting threads. |
Perhaps shorts or light sweatpants and a t-shirt would do. |
+1 and don't see any reason to be nostalgic about buying and washing pajamas! |
Have you asked him if he wants to wear them. Our three sons (10, 14 and 15) haven’t worn pajamas since they were about 7 or 8, at which time they all started sleeping in just their underwear. Youngest still does, and the older two ditched the underwear somewhere around their 13th birthdays and have slept in the nude ever since. |
