| Can I give my 6 year old a half dose of Nyquil? |
| How about half a shot of Jack instead? |
| OP: So I guess that's a no. |
|
Nyquil's webpage says that for children between 4-12 to "ask a doctor". However, they sell Children's Nyquil. You could try that.

What does the packaging say?
I was going to say it's a bad idea, but then I realized I was thinking about the old, good, strong version of NyQuil. |
| Is there a new, weak version of Nyquil? Do tell. It used to work great for me, but now that you mention it I realize it doesn't really work for me anymore. |
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was reformulated a few years ago to take out whatever ingredient is used in meth. And I had to look it up, and yes, the pseudoephedrine is gone, but apparently it still exists, called NyQuil D, and you can buy it at the pharmacy (but it's behind the counter now). That is such great news, I think I'll head out this weekend and pick some up. It was so depressing when it didn't work anymore. |
Shut up. |
| There is a children's Triaminic Nighttime, which is probably what you could/should use instead of Nyquil. But ask your ped! |
| Triaminic doesn't work. I used the Dayquil because it says 6 - 12 and that worked well. I need something strong. Nyquil says only 12 and up though, so I was thinking of cutting the does in half and was wondering if anyone else had... |
| I mean dose. |
| The issue with Nyquil is alcohol. It is 10-12% alcohol depending on which one it is. I gave some to my 13 YO the other day - that was the first time, I would not have given it to him any younger. |
OP here: I just knocked her out with Children's Benedryl Sinus formula. She just started the ZPack from a nasty cold and the doctor wanted to add something for her cough. It did the trick, sweet dreams
Thanks for your help. |
