Expecting during Covid-19

Anonymous
I was wondering what level of safety/comfort are expectant mothers doing in the DMV area. Please let me know which trimester you're on. Are you doing one or more of the following:

1) Getting your hair done
2) Getting nails done
3) Going out to eat both indoor/outdoor
4) Traveling and staying at a hotel
5) Grocery shopping in person
6) Going to Target/or other retail stores
7) Going to a mall
8) Going to nature parks or hikes in the area

Thanks!

26 weeks pregnant (second trimester)
No hair
No nails
No eating out - will do takeout
No travel or hotel
Grocery shopping with mask at off hours (but mostly doing order pick up so not too long at store)
No retail - just online
No mall
Walking paths and in park near my house. No going to Great Falls or a trail.

The only thing ANYONE should be doing pregnant or not is #3 for take-out, #5 sporadically and #8.

Third trimester (due late August)

I did 4 about 2.5 weeks ago.
Regularly do 5, and 8, have done 6. All with a mask.
Am personally most skeeved out by 3. Not planning on 1, 2, or 3 at any point in the foreseeable future, though I'm not much of a manicure person in non covid times. My hair has gotten long and heavy and gross. I had my husband give me an undercut (shaved a bunch of hair from the back part of my head). It's much better now and cooler, especially if I do a ponytail.

Entering second trimester. I'm doing none of the things you mentioned. Private trails at my parent's property is the only thing that kind of qualifies but there's zero chance of running into another person.

3rd trimester (37 weeks).
We get carryout/delivery from restaurants.
Get groceries delivered.
Traveled and stayed in a hotel at the end of April as my husband’s mom passed away suddenly.
We do spend time outside in parks/just walking in the neighborhood.
Not doing 1-7 before the baby comes. Not sure when I will feel comfortable doing those things, tbh

+2. I'm not even pregnant and my list is takeout, #5, and #8.

PP here. I should add I do #3 insofar as it is takeout, and I did #4 about as late in my pregnancy as I was comfortable taking the risk staying somewhere out of my house and traveling more than a couple hours away from my healthcare provider-I was almost 31 weeks I think? I probably wouldn't do it past 33/34 weeks with a so-far normal pregnancy.

2 weeks PP. Other than medical appts. I stayed home starting the 2nd week of March.

I did telehealth as much as I could but had to go for growth scan, and some in-person monitoring. I ate take-out 1-2 times per week (DH picked up). Didnt grocery shop (DH, local family or delivery if possible). Did curb side pick-up a few times where I popped the trunk and staffer put bag in. I took daily walks in our neighborhood and ate on our back patio as often as weather permitted.

Today I went to Target. It was a delight!!

3rd trimester and I pretty much just go to the doctor and CVS. It sucks. Especially because DH goes to work, but I get that it’s our total risk that matters and not “breaking the seal” or something.

I gotta say though I love delivery groceries. I did it pre-pandemic but only when I could really justify the cost because of truly not having time. The only thing that sucks about it is they never pick good tomatoes.

No hair and nails but that wasn’t important to me before and I know for some people it’s really important for their psyche. We have a Peloton and that has been important now that it’s so hot and I don’t want to hike, but did a lot of hiking in spring. I also hate shopping so not going to stores is no hardship. Although it would have been nice to shop for the baby in person. But Amazon has been fine tbh.

I really miss restaurants but I know I won’t enjoy being at one the same way until this is over. I would just be stressed the whole time. I remember the last restaurant meal we ate in March. It’s extra sad because of course we’ll have the baby so will eat out less.
